Not to agree with ANYTHING else that Boxed Ears has said here but yeah some people only seem to want to take Povetkin's camp's side of things. But thanks to the replies trying to explain what's coming out of that camp better.

Thanks for your contribution and seeming to actually know what you're talking about. Seems to back up that Wilder's camp is actually getting unfairly portrayed when there maybe isn't any real decision for someone you're managing but to wait on that fight.

I didn't have the patience to read this entire thread but I'm from Alabama and what Wilder is doing makes me hate him even more. I think Wilder's camp sees Povetkin as a huge threat and they're trying to avoid that fight for as long as they can hoping to cash in on the big money with Klitschko. They're trying to kick the can down the road hoping Povetkin loses or that he goes another route after losing patience. I for one hope Sasha breaks Wilder in half.

:deal Haymon is waiting on Klitschko-Fury to be over so he can negotiate a deal with the winner before WBC schedules a purse bid.

Don't read the entire thread, just save some time and read what Saint Pat wrote, and I think you'll feel less negative about Wilder:

"Stiverne had to fight a mandatory in his first defense because he won a vacant title, just like every fighter who wins a vacant WBC title has to do -- it is in the rules if you look on the WBC website.

No dirty play, standard operating procedure.

As Wilder was a mandatory challenger when he won the title, he has 1 year to make his first mandatory ... which means next Janury. Someone posted that Wilder had to ask the WBC permission to make another voluntary defense, which just isn't true.

Povetkin became the mandatory challenger in May, when he beat Perez. By that time Wilder was already signed to fight Molina in June.

Povetkin's promoter said in May that he wasn't sure if Wilder would be his fighter's next fight. That's a fact:

    http://www.boxing-scene.com/promoter...america--91434

(take out the dash between "boxing" and "scene" -- and mods, if I have broken any rules please delete.)

Povetkin's backers said recently that negotiations are going slowly. The WBC said sometime back that it would order mandatory negotiations to begin in October, and if those negotiations do not result in a deal it will go to purse bids -- this is also straight from the WBC rules (read them on the website, they are in English and Spanish).

In the same interview where the promoter said negotiations are going slowly, he said he's willing to throw the same kind of money he did at the Povetkin-Klitschko fight to win the bid if it goes to bids. That's $23 million.

If Wilder merely waits until purse bids -- another couple of months -- he gets SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT of the winning bid, which we can assume the Russians are going to go at least $23M, which means $17M to Wilder. If his team accepts an offer of less, they are short-changing him.

If someone was representing you in negotiations, and could add another $7M or more to your bank account by waiting 2 months, would you want them to strike a deal more quickly?

    That's insane.

It's also silly to suggest that Wilder is ducking a guy who has been his mandatory challenger all of 3 months."

I don't believe this is a Wilder thing. This looks like a pure and simple business call that no other group would do any differently if they had the choice. To me anyway.

    Nice post.....with one glaring exception.

Jennings is like 6'3 (not short) weighs like 220-225, and is shredded to such an extent that most would consider him anything but stocky.:nono

Also....while he does have a pretty brutal counter UC, he throws a lot of arm punches, much like a young Evander. Substituting torque for volume.

A better opponent to prepare for Potvetkin would be the much improved Jennings victim, Andrej Fedosov.

Though if Wilder had seen his fights since the Jennings loss, it would have likely put the fear of God into him irt fighting him as well. :think
