college football didn't suddenly come into existence in the late nineties. Jim Brown was an infinitely better athlete than any boxer in the fifties and sixties. not even anyone close.

You think a guy with an IQ of 64 could get into college even if he was a football player back then? I have seen the IQ test results of a Pro Bowler ( Washington Redskin who was in a Texas prison ) and it was 64. I don't think he would have been allowed near a college way back when.

the biggest point i was making was that Jim Brown would absolutely humiliate Ali, Frazier, Liston, etc, at any physical contest. the best athletes have been going to football since the fifties.

US doesn't have any good heavyweights or cruiserweights in amateurs and almost the same goes for the professional's. But they have Wilder who is decent/good. He is lone American champion across 3 divisions, that speaks for itself. I heard that there are programs in place to improve the situation among the amateur ranks but there are no results from these programs so far. In all US amateur boxing is in sad state for various reasons. So, I think it's ridiculous for the these former champs to claim that because of Wilder the guys who would go to American football will now go to boxing, delusional statements. I hope the state of US amateur boxing improves...

Rio Olympics was a complete disaster for US amateur boxing. I will not get my hopes up for the next Olympics either.

Heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov does not want to know anything about Groupe Yvon Michel. The problem is that he forgot to inform his manager.

Last Friday, GYM announced that it had agreed with Esmir, the group that manages the career of the Russian heavyweight. GYM executives were then happy to announce the hiring, with good reason.

Makhmudov is a coveted heavyweight. The one who has had a great run in the World Series of Boxing since 2012 has a win by KO. at its only professional outlet so far. What's more, he is coached by Marc Ramsay. Artur Beterbiev's coach, Eleider Alvarez and David Lemieux, to name just a few, are not used to working with second-rate boxers.

But on Tuesday, Makhmudov went on a vicious attack on GYM on social networks, denying his association.

"I never signed such an agreement and it never crossed my mind," he said on Instagram, a comment he has since cleared.

Makhmudov went on to recall GYM's stormy separation from David Lemieux, the contractual conflict with Beterbiev, the way the relationship with Custio Clayton ended, and "the 15-month life of Vislan Dalkhaev". The six-foot-six giant also notes that he has not signed a contract, that one tries to make him swallow without his agreement.

"I'm surprised he attacked us that way," said Yvon Michel, President of GYM, in an interview with La Presse canadienne. We never claimed to have signed a contract with him, but with his manager. Now it seems that there is a conflict between his manager and him. "

Late in the morning, Esmir announced that he had broken off his association with Makhmudov.

"We negotiated and agreed to an agreement with GYM so that our boxers participate in the events (...) of March 15 and April 19, at the Casino de Montréal, Esmir said in an email. After several discussions with Arslanbek, he tells us that he will not be able to participate due to an injury, which we have never been informed.

"As a result of these discussions with the boxer, we have lost confidence in his intentions to collaborate with us and view his behavior as a breach of contract. We decided to no longer represent him, fund him, or participate in his career. "

Aslanbek Makhumudov was criticizing Yvon Mitchell on Mitcell's facebook page. Mitchell deleted all negative messages afterwards. But in general Makhumudov ruined his career in Canada by refusing to cooperate with Yvon Mitchell. He has complained about life in Russia and promoters not giving adequate money but I think he has no chance but to go to Russia. And he has said that if his career doesn't work in Canada, he will got to Russia and fight there.

Is he Trans-Caucasian Azeri or part of Caucasusian Lezgin/Chechen transplants, as some of those Azeri boxers look more Caucasian than the typical Trans-Caucasian

Mahkmudov just signed with Interbox, a small promoter under Eye of The Tiger. Slim chance he fights on April 7 on Kean's undercard.

Boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov has signed a deal with the Quebec house Interbox promotion, reported Nancy Audet for the TVA Sports channel on Tuesday.

Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) announced earlier in March that it had gotten its hands on the promotion rights of the Russian heavyweight, before the boxer living in Montreal denied having initialed an agreement with GYM.

When he came out against GYM on social media, Makhmudov (1-0-0, 1 KO) did not hesitate to mention the many impasses and conflicts that shake the organization of Yvon Michel as factors which influenced his reluctance to be part of the team.

Interbox is chaired by former Quebec boxer Antonin Decarie and belongs to Eye of the Tiger Management, led by Camille Estephan.
