    Lewis was 37
    Heaviest he'd ever been.
    Hadnt fought in a year.
Lewis had as much notice for the fight as Vitali. Lewis was training for Johnson, Vitali was training for Boswell.

Lewis beat Vitalis face to the point where he looked like he'd been attacked with a chainsaw.

Vitali was in his prime. In his 30s,had been WBO champ and over 30 fights.

    Lewis TKO6 Vitali.

    Deal with it.

    ITS EIGHT YEARS AGO!

:rofl:rofl:rofl Exactly. These people talking about Lewis like he was some unbeatable superman are likely just motivated by hatred of the Klitschkos, because when Lewis was actually fighting he wasn't very popular with a large section of boxing fans. In fact, he got a lot of the criticism that the Klitschkos do now. He got knocked out by McCall and Rahman, yet the idea that Vitali could have beaten him is supposed to be unthinkable. But like I said, ESB is reknowned as being the home of Klitschko hate on the web, so I expect this kind of stuff here....

Everyone who watched Lewis-Vitali (barring the most rabid Lewis nuthuggers) agree that the fight ended in controversy and there should have been a rematch. Even Lewis initially agreed to the rematch.

Lewis' promoter signaled Lewis' doctor to signal Lewis' referee to stop the fight without even checking out the cut. Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night......... Vitali staggered Lewis more than once. Max said he had never seen Lewis flop down on his stool like that and he was right behind Lewis' corner. Lewis was done for, Vitali would have knocked him out in the very next round, anyone knows that.............Lewis was sucking wind and Vitali did not even had 2 weeks notice. Lewis turned down huge paydays for a rematch, but Lewis' remembered what happened. Lewis suffered a very badly broken nose as well, so why not stop the fight on that? Still time enough for a rematch, but Lewis still hides.............

Only thing I noticed about the end of the fight was that Lennox was ****ing terrified.

Lewis won. Vitali put up a hell of a fight, but Lewis won. The first rule of boxing is protect yourself at all times, and Vitali didn't do that.

A rematch would have been great, but Lewis did not owe it to Vitali either.

Vitali has gone on to become a great champ in his own right, and I hope he fights on another five years adding 10-15 legacy building fights.

The worst thing was LL hiding behind his mom decision not to fight Vitaly when it became unavoidable.

    That was truly lame.
