The two GOATs of MMA - forget these so called new breeds

  1. I think that once you truely know the history of MMA and its fighters, you start appreciating the quality of fighters from all ages (none of these new breeds garbage). Fedor and Igor are truely the GOATs of MMA. Some interesting things between the two is that both Fedor and Igor uses the same casting punch (I think it was even called the Igor punch by the Japanese - way before Fedor came along), both have trouble with breaking/injuring their hands, both with a Sambo (Igor more kickboxing based and Fedor more grappling based) background and both originally from Ukrain.

    IGOR
    Kickboxing: 61 wins 2 looses
MMA: 49 wins 10 looses (30 straight wins and most of his losses came at the back end of his long career)

    FEDOR
Sambo: 12 gold medals and 4 bronze in Sambo; 2 bronze in Judo
MMA: 32 wins 2 looses (28 straight wins and one of his loss should have been a "No Contest"

Fedor is the greatest MMA fighter ever and Igor was certainly one of the best as well. Nice vids.

Massive fan of Igor! He's one of my favourite old school fighters.

Funnily enough I've been watching some of his old NHB matches recently, like the loss to Illoukhine, KOing Adilson Lima twice in one night and his TKO of Paul Varelans. He was a bad man. I would have liked to see him at 205 during his prime. Unfortuantely the division only really heated up towards the end of his career.
