Louis didn't like counterpunchers. The only pressure fighter to beat him came in Louis' last fight. He knocked out all the pressure fighters he faced except that one.
slowest and chinniest boxers of that era? atsch Both were significantly bigger and stronger than Louis. I bet you each would have had fewer knockdowns against Louis' opponents than Louis did. Quick quiz: how many boxers knocked out Bruno faster than Tyson did? Why don't you just share some more of your fan fiction about how Louis backs Mike Tyson up and imposes his will on him?
1) Louis never faced the kind of high-speed, high-power pressure Tyson brings 2) Tyson was also a counterpuncher
I'm not saying Joe Louis vs. Mike Tyson and Joe Louis vs. Lennox Lewis aren't great, close, brutal fights. I just think Louis would be favored to win and I'd pick him to win. I just find it ridiculous for people to claim Louis was too small OR that Tyson would knock Joe Louis out in one round, for god's sake.
I know. I think Tyson and Lewis are two of the best heavyweights ever. But I think Ali and Louis ARE the two best ever. And Mike Tyson isn't knocking either out in one round. Joe Louis wasn't Marvis Frazier or Carl Williams ... which you seem to be comparing him to. Mike Tyson NEVER fought anyone as good as Joe Louis, either. So deal with that.
