Saw the Tyson doco the other day and it's well worth a look. He came across as smarter than expected, but also just as loony as expected, and then some! Cus D'Amato was certainly responsible for the two major turning points in Tyson's life. He made a champ out of a chump who was either heading for a life in prison or just plain going to get killed being a dickhead. But sadly, with Cus' death when Tyson still only about 21 years old, the old aimless, brainless Tyson seemede to resurface. The fight footage in the doco is good. Different angles etc to the footage usually seen. In particular, the right upper-cut that Buster Douglas cops Tyson with is caught sensationally. Gotta be one of the biggest hits any heavy ever had to contend with.
Simple question mate - dead or as a 'lifer' in prison! As he points out in the doco, he didn't stand a hope in hell with his upbringing. He was surrounded by guns, drugs, robbery & assault as a very young kid, and only boxing and Cus got him away from it.
I was abit disapointed by the Doco acually. There are great parts, When Talking about Cus and his early life. But it sort of Drifted off to Rubish, Like how he likes to have sex......lol idk bout you but id rather concentrate on Boxing. It was good but it could have been better, More Focus on His Boxing Life and less about his Bedroom life. i give it bout a 6/10 could have been a 8. buts thats just my opinion
Fair call. Probably wouldn't go higher than a 7 or 8 myself. Certainly won't win any critical claim awards, but for boxing addicts it's must see material.
Good question. Watched it at the hotel I was staying in, on in-house PPV. Cost the company $14.95 - cost me nuthin'.
This should be watched at a movie theater,it is quite an experience having a huge Tyson head in your face. He also debunks the myth of being in upper state NY to stay out of trouble. At one point he tells how he would catch the train into the city ,pull a robbery then head to the Catskills to hide out. Naughty boy that Mike Tyson LOL
