I thought it was very clear that Mijares was allowing him to get some work in, thus the passive body language throughout. Koki must be preparing for a fight in this footage, with Mijares agreeing to work him out.
It was competitive because of Mijares's lack of effort and Koki's higher workrate to compensate for the fact that Mijares was clearly more skilled in the center of the ring. When he decided to let his hands go a bit you could see the difference in class. I didn't really see any winner in the session, but I saw who was clearly the better fighter and who'd have won between the two in a real match.
That's not the Ultimate!!! This one is!! P4P vs top 10 P4P. ATGs vs future ATGs. Pac vs Izzy. [YT]JYD3DQ_OwTQ[/YT] Just look how boring the Mijares-Koki compared to Pac-Izzy.
That's why I said that "Sparring means nothing". I'd like to see a real match. I notice that Koki was more aggressive and Mijares was looking to counter and lay on the outside.
LOL...I agree that Mijares looked to be more "laid back" which is why i said sparring sessions are just that and can't be measured in whom would win in a actual Sanctioned boxing match. Even when letting his hands go Koki was getting the better shots in. In terms of Defensive and offensive technique I saw Mijares as the cleaner puncher but he ate many shots. he definitley has Defensive prowess but in the sparring with Koki match there were many holes. I think Mijares would win today...maybe even tomorrow but Koki has and continues to progress. A year from now you never know...and I know Koki would be cometivie against the great Mijares as he should. He's been a pro longer and had the better level of comp.
Koki showing some really good movement and footwork in there. But as the majority, Mijeras is clearly the better fighter.
You really thought so Sues? It was a pretty unispired session, but all I realy saw was Mijares using his jab as a fly swatter. Good Lord though, did Manny own Izzy up and down or what?
Well you have to watch it more for what it is really. It was not an all out sparring session, as nothing with real intent was ever thrown, looked more like a session on technique then anything. But watch Koki's footspeed and overall footwork. Its damn good for just a sparring session. Mijares on the other hand, tho again, this wasnt full speed sparring...showed great timing and defense.
I'll take another look. It says something though that the guy going at 80% lands a grand total of about five solid shots against the guy barely pushing 50%. :think
Again, as you eluded to...neither were going anywhere CLOSE to full speed. It was a "feel out" session in ways (tho admittingly that sounds like something 16yr olds have)...what it does is show you technical strengths more than what the true limits of each fighter is.
