Without the presence of fear, you can't be completely focused. Fear of "X" keeps you sharp, motivated, and aware.

Successful people have fear: fear of failure, fear of being poor, fear of not providing for their children's future, fear of whatever... the list is long. It drives you to push to make sure those things don't happen. A "fearless" person, is not a very smart person.

But it can also cause you to lose self awareness. Fear caused you to trainer harder in your 20s when you were still building the Ferrari, that was a good thing. However that same reaction is a death sentence in your late 30s. How you train has to change with your age. This stage of Floyd's career is about polish.

Most *****s on this forum are children they don't get that.

The underlying issue is that a lot of Pac's die hard fans doubt Pacquiao.

Boxing_master is scared, no matter what he says. He refused to agree not to make excuses, and he continues to claim Pac will battle the ref,the judges, the cramps, the shotness, the motivation, and Uncle Sam. That's fear.

Changing how you train from 20s to 30s is not about fear. That is about methods of training and listening to your body.

Fear, is a useful motivational emotion. The absence of fear, is a worrisome thing in my view. A fearless person is blind. I would be concerned if Pacquiao really had "no fear," because that would indicate he doesn't understand the magnitude of the fight he's in with Mayweather. Or how tough it can/will be.

A fearful person is also blind. If you are doing something stupid because of fear than fear is blinding you. Floyd is 38 and fear had let Ariza convince him that he can train like he is 26.

Fear has blinded him. Floyd's motto as he's gotten older has always been train smarter not harder. Now he has thrown that in the trash because of fear.

He has been blinded by fear. While you might be correct that lack of fear Dan also blind you there is no phrase in the English lexicon of 'blinded by lack of fear'. That should tell you what the more dangerous side of the coin is.

Too much fear will paralyze a person, and you're right: they won't think clearly.

If you feel Floyd is at that level of fear, we'll have to agree to disagree. I think his fear of losing drives him in a healthy way. I don't know about you, but: I like when champions train hard and put their complete focus into boxing. Especially when I'm going to pay $100 to watch them fight.

Training hard and focusing are two different things.

When manning is out throwing with his receivers he is 100% focused. But he isn't running gasser anymore.

What it takes to become a fighter and what it takes to be a fighter are two different things.

In your 20s you are building the machine. I you 30s you are polishing it and taking care of it.

As had been pointed out Oscar was doing the same **** at the end of his career trying to rebuild the machine and turn back the clock.

Father Time is the undefeated champion. You cant beat him. At best you can slow him down a little.

I too think this can be a deciding factor in this fight. You first win a fight in your mind, then on the ring. I don't think Floyd will pass the first stage. He's being motivated by his people but when he's alone, he's probably like "1 loss doesn't mean nothin!!! :("
