    I think that it's perfectly reasonable to have a heavyweight high on a p4p list actually, and I rate Ali in the top 10 myself, or did last time out. But hold the phone - why have you got Mayweather above Langford? How can that possibly be justified in any way?

    Like i said in my post , after the top 3 they are by no means set in stone, i just thought that i should give some credit and respect to today's great fighters , which is what Mayweather is. I could very easily have them the other way round, but i wouldnt argue with any1 if they had Mayweather higher . These lists are very tight.

    And i dont know what you mean by it is reasonable to have a heavyweight in your top ten , this is a p4p list and weight doesnt matter , so i forgot their weight classes before i compiled the list (which was a last minute job) , and i think it is decent .

    Any chance of seeing your list

    Andf also, there is no bias in my list , im a Duran fan and not a Ali fan , but i call it the way i see it and have Ali above Duran , anyway , this is just opinion

    I don't know if I have a top ten, but I think both Jofre and Ali are a little overrated here. Not hating on you or anything, but Armstrong did more than Ali, as did Duran I think. I also put Langford ahead of him.


    Maybe my list would be:

    Robinson
    Armstrong
    Duran
    Langford
    Greb
    Pep
    Whitaker
    Benny Leonard
    Barney Ross
    Chavez

    A lot of people regard the term in a literal sense - that is direct comparisons of speed, power relative to body mass etc. In these instances there is literally no chance for the bigger men. My own thinking is closer to yours.

    I'll have a go. I'm still pretty confused about a lot of this, but something like:

    1 - Langford
    2 - Robinson
    3 - Armstrong
    4 - Greb
    5 - Ezzard Charles
    6 - Willie Pep
    7 - Roberto Duran
    8 - Muhammad Ali
    9 - Charley Burley
    10-Archie Moore

    I think either Joe Louis or Benny Leonard would be my 11. Or maybe Joe Gans.

    Thanks. I think your positioning of Langford is fine - as in his number, I mean there really is very little between 1 and 10 when you get to this kind of level, i beleive. But to have Mayweather above a guy who went from WW to HW as a dominant and feared force? No.

    I underrstand your point , and it is a good one . Just that , i try to give credit not just to achievement , but to how good they look aswell . I try my best to give credit to everything . I have Jofre high because of how good he looked , and, Ali aswell.

    The only real way a fighter can prove himself is by beating other top class fighters , Ali did this in abundance , like i keep saying - im not a Ali fan , but the record speaks for itself . I understand your point with Jofre though .

    The list is very tight though , i was put on the spot to do it aswell !!

    I get you , i was just giving credit to Mayweather's ability , he is great , i dont like him , but he is . Ability should be recognised aswell as achievement.

    I just think Mayweather's ability to adjust when a fight is not going his way is of the best in boxing history , this is also why i think he could have done as well in any era - when they had to make up their fight plans in the ring there and then . I like my list (even though it was spare of the moment!) , im keeping it.

    I see what you're saying. Good points. I guess it's just kind of a tough thing to say so and so looks great on film if he hasnt beaten good guys. Skills can sometimes disappear or appear different when you fight better and better fighters. Not the case with Mayweather I don't think, he is great.
