It was an excellent performance (well, two excellent performances) against Arguello, but let's be realistic. He built his reputation solely on those fights against an aging legend two weight classes above his best. He gets way too much credit.

I would agree with Kostya being overrated as well.

    An aging argeullo?

He was hardly considered aging during the pre fight hype and press conferences. Actually he was picked to beat 'the defenceless scrub'. I like alexis but to say he was aging is a joke. I mean he came back to thoroughly dominate a 140 belt holder like billy costello and if he had challenged for mamby's belt, he prolly would have beat him.

Sorry, but I can't see what taking great shots has to do with being overrated.

So you're saying at age 30, after 80 fights, he was in prime shape? Have you ever seen Arguello at the lower weights?

I'm sorry, my point isn't even debatable.

30 maybe past his peak, but aging, hardly.

I dont really say 80 fights, cuz alot of those fighters were against bums in nicaragua when he was a kid with very little amatuer career.

Floyd is 30, i dont see anyone calling him aging, and hes well above his natural weight too.

explain how the **** its a trolling post? Argeullo beat every other fighter from 1980-1983, just cuz he gets his ass kicked a couple time by pryor, a man who he was favoured to beat by the way, he gets excused as the ancient 30 year old.

Because he was clearly not the fighter that he was at 130lbs. He was still an excellent lightweight, but he was showing some signs of slowing down by the time he met Pryor.

It was considered a 50/50 proposition, for the most part.

Taking the shot's he took and winning show's this man was a great fighter, you can't take that away from him. Arguello would have never beat him. No 140 pounder but Pernell Whitaker or maybe(just maybe) Julio Cesar Chavez would beatt him. Just because your lord and savior Sugar Ray Leonard didn't want to fight Pryor doesn't mean you can underrate him.

You're drawing some pretty lofty conclusions based on one fight. Most people would tend to steer clear of doing something like that.
