I was hoping the article was going to back up it's claim that Shane was paid "slave wages" by GBP. Instead, it just rambles on with idle speculation. I don't know the author but it seems like one of those articles written by some random fan with an agenda. It's hard for me to feel sorry for Shane since Golden Boy paid him tens of millions and got him a host of big fights. It's worth remembering he was fighting on ESPN before signing with GBP and a lot of people thought he was washed-up. If he wants to leave, then good luck to him but he should be appreciative of what Golden Boy did for him.
I finally read the article, its basically saying its unfair for mosley to sit in teh waitingroom while marquez gets to be free to do what he acn to fight pacquiao. Since mosley got a shot at mayweather which he begged for, I think Marquez is the one who deserves the pac fight more then anyone. Mosley needed to wait his turn, instead he ****s everyone over for even more money.
There is no way GBP is moving to the side so Marquez can get a 3rd fight with Manny and let Top Rank get all the cash! Whoever believes this **** is a complete idiot. Its a business world people. Why would GBP move to the side so Top Rank and Marquez can negotiate a Pac/JMM fight and leave GBP without a piece of the pie? atsch And they also mention Hopkins in the article....he is on his 40's and still wants quality ($$$) fights? Its problaby hard to get him fights like that in this stage in his carreer. Same thing for Mosley...all Mosley has left is his legacy and his NAME and its going down the drain like Roy Jones Jr. name is going down.
That fact that he began his statement with "I am not going to read it" then proceed to go into this Whole Rant based on Assumptions and Perceptions when there is an Article which addressed the same **** he's talking about...BUT WITH FACTS, Tells you all you need to know about this poster!!!:-(
to be fair though, there are hardly any facts in the article outside of statements from Mosley saying he wants to go solo and statements from Schaefer basically saying we won't get into that as well as some more statements saying they're letting JMM go solo because Top Rank people are tough to deal with. Since we all know pretty much all promoters lie about what happens behind the scenes, I would hardly call those statements as "facts."
Heey! no need to make any assumptions about me now:bbb did read the article a day later because im bored out of my mind at work, see my response just above you.
Well said gentlemen. With the large amount of Idiotic Newbie Pacquiao creating ridiculous Threads and Post....You two are without a doubt my favorite (Pacquiao Fan) Posters....Again, Well Said.
He does, they got evicted from their "office building" lol.. Ask yourself this.. if Floyd is really his own man why does he need Golden Boy or Don King? Oscar made GBP while he was still fighting because he had alot better business sense with his money than to flash 50k ipods on twitter.. And do you really think that GBP was promoting Floyd for free and not getting a cut of his purse? Thats ridiculous, boxing is a business.
Oscar talks in his book about the decision to form GBP after he was shafted by his original managers. It made good business sense to build the company up while he was still fighting, using the fact that he was the most marketable fighter at the time to push the company towards the status it now enjoys as one of boxing's top promotional brands. Did Mayweather Promotions have any notable fighters? Quite a few boxers seem to decide they're going to follow the De la Hoya blueprint, only to sign with another promotional company and fail to sign any worthwhile fighters. Mayweather could surely have done what Oscar did in terms of his promotional company because of his high profile. Just doesn't seem smart enough to have made it work
