What a load of bull****! "Shane Mosley is being forced out of the company" - say what? The idiot writer himself wrote down in the same article that Mosley himself chose to be a promotional free agent just to negotiate with Top Rank behind Golden Boy's back (the company and Schaefer learned this through the media with Mosley not returning their calls). That's more than disloyalty, that's stabbing your business partners in the back, especially after GBP landed him the multi-million dollar Mayweather fight and GBP judges awarded Shane the gift draw vs. Mora. Also, what slave wages? Total bullcrap this article, and unfortunately for Mosley, as good as he is, he's totally delusional and his disloyalty will cost him a few millions of brain cells Pacquiao will beat out of him, and it seems he already lost some. Absolutely terrible move by Shane. Remember, this is the guy who personally injected EPO into his own body, then claiming he didn't know what substance was in it. He's either simply dumb, or the kind of person who lies and stabs you in the back, neither looks good on him.
Yeah I don't think he's smart enough really to be a business man. That's how he got himself in a financial mess prior to the comeback, mismanaging his money. Seems much more content flashing it then building something sustainable beyond boxing. But whatever works for you, its his money I guess, he can do what he wants with it....so long as he pays his taxes
Oscar is a very bright person for a boxer. I read his book too. Didn't he say he actually got his first credit card at the late age of 27? It wouldn't surprise me if most boxers are even farther behind Oscar when it comes to knowledge of finances.
Good read. I never like Goldenboy promotion anyway. I already canceled my HBO months ago until there is a fight I can't refuse or GBP lose their unfair contract with them. I rather see pac fight berto. but if mosley fight gets done I will suport it just to say FU Richard. Since GBP got there contract. HBO show has gone down. November was an exception. But I can live without. super 6, rafa/lopez and there fight at lower calls with darth is keeping boxing afloat for me.
I guess you forgot about the days when gbp forgot about mosley canceling his fights for their other fighters. Leaving him with a year and a half layoff from the sport. That was when they should have capitalize on his win with Margo. Mosley really needs to thank them for that.
Yeah something like that, before then he used to go down to his manager's car dealership and they'd just give him an envelope with however much money he wanted. I've got a lot of respect for what Oscar's did, building up such a successful business portfolio. Not many others could do that, evidenced by the amount of guys that have tried to create companies that never really got of the ground
I remember that. It was a good book. He even told us about how you can either take a guarantee or a % of the PPV revenue when you're a fighter working for bob arum.
When this whole situation began, I thought Shane said he wasn't leaving Golden Boy? If I recall, it was mainly him saying he's still a Golden Boy fighter, share holder, part owner, all that, but that he wasn't bound by contract to only negotiate through them? Some **** like that. That's why I thought it was interesting Schaefer seemed so adamant otherwise.
I'm not sure I understand. Who cancelled what? The minute Mosley put the finishing touch on Margarito Top Rank issued a restraining order against Sugar, so Cotto and Pac were out of the picture despite GBP's efforts and Shane's sacrifices. Then Golden Boy offered the Mosley fight to Mayweather, but he rather chose JMM. Then Golden Boy made the Berto fight but Andre pulled out a week before due to the Hatiti earthquake. Then Golden Boy made the Mayweather fight which was a huge success. Then Golden Boy made the ridiculous, nonsense Mora PPV fight and the judges saved Shane's ass from another loss. And now Mosley turns his back on the company that made him multi-millions, and makes them learn about his disloyalty through the media? Maybe if Mosley ASKED Golden Boy to try to negotiate the Pac fight representing himself there wouldn't be a bad blood, but when he hired James Prince we all knew something similar is going to happen. I simply don't see the unfair treatment. Shane Mosley's brain is going to get unfair treatment, because he doesn't know when to quit, and will have even less clue once Pacquiao knocks another 5% of capacity off his brain.
