I think Steward is overrated as a trainer.

He has a lot of top guys, but he didnt train these guys from stratch.

He sits back and waits for someone real good to come up and he signs them. He ruined Wlad. Wlad used to be exciting, back in the mercer fight days. Now he doesnt throw a single hook or right hand until the 5th round.

Look at him with Taylor, as soon as Taylor lost he dropped him and switched sides. A good trainer would have stayed with Taylor and helped him win the rematch.

I really enjoy his commentary. Some of his analysis is spot on, and i think he is pretty objective. Everyone is going to be opinionated to a degree, so what. THE HBO team in general is excellent. If you guys had to put up with the SKY/UK ***gs that we had to in Aus, i bet you wouldn't be whinging so damn much. Sky will BLATANTLY cheer lead the british fighter, no matter what. To the point where the fight is almost unwatchable. You should have heard them in Hatton v Mayweather... It was atrocious. Hatton, Hatton, Hatton... "Hatton blocking the punches very effectively with his face, in an attempt to break the fragile hands of Floyd". "Mayweather is looking bothered, i don't think he was expecting anything like this" (mean while Mayweather is landing clean accurate punches time after time, totally in control). It is disgraceful. Overall the HBO team are pretty knowledgable, very charismatic and professional. Far and away better then everyone else i have seen.

This is all true. I don't really mind HBO - they're all characters to some extent and they make the fight entertaining. Steward knows his stuff. You can't be involved in the fight game for 75 percent of your life and not know what you're talking about. He's biased, yes, but I've seen worse.

What do you think about Showtime?

Showtime are okay, not as exciting, not as articulate IMO. Lampley really generates excitement with his commentary. Bernstein could put me to sleep with his droning voice, although he is accurate. Buffer is a greater announcer then Jimmy whatever from showtime... The specialist commentary is always better from HBO... I find the whole presentation from HBO is just on another level. SHowtime are decent... Just not as good. HBO are pretty damn objective in the big scheme of things. People always whinge, but seriously if they heard SKY they would be in SHOCK. I can't put into words how much they cheerlead the british fighters. They don't know MUCH about the sport either, which is very frustrating to listen to. Maybe my only gripe is Merchant. He is very very slow, and his lines sound really forced. He comes up with some of the most foolish analogies i have ever heard as well. I also don't like the way he will be rude to fighters in the interviews. Great to ask the hard questions, but he goes too far sometimes. They need someone younger to take over. kellermen is alright, but TOO enthusiastic. Its annoying, he needs to tone it down a bit, he is too big in everything that he does.

Same here, but Roy burnt his bridges with the HBO execs. Besides, Kellerman can't consistently get along with a guy as laid back as Lennox. Imagine 12 rounds of Kellerman and Jones talking over each other.

I was watching PBF - Hatton the other day, and the announcer with what I think you guys call the "Geordie" accent was giving Floyd plenty of credit. Must not have been Sky?

Man, ESB is out to have Steward hitting up soup kitchens. Toss him a bone with the announcing gig.

At least until his prospects learn how to clinch. :bbb

hahaha, yes, but you get the idea. Floyd would land punches, and they wouldn't say anything. Hatton would be applying in-effective pressure, and they would be going off like he had just knocked down Mayweather, or was absolutely dominating. Extremely biased.

 Oh, so they didn't really say that. I would LOL if they actually did say something like that. Actually, i would be ROLF. I can't imagine someone actually saying something like that, i would die of laughter.

Can you just imagine Lederman saying something like, "OK Jim, i've got it 3 rounds to 1 for Hatton. I mean the way he's blocking those punches with his face time and time again is amazing."

hahaha just pictured the Lederman voice in my head, would be funny as f*ck.... Which brings me to my next point. Can you imagine talking to Lederman in real life? That guy has the strangest voice. Picture Harold Lederman sex talk... F*ck that would be so weird hahaha. He sounds like he is always straining really hard when he talks.

His obviously knows alot about the game of boxing, but believe me, HBO has him acting like a clown. You ever watch a real full interview with him, he's much different. He curses like a sailor too. :good
