The more I give this match up some thought. The more I tend to agree with this.

You mean Ali, Quick Tillis and Bonecrusher Smith, I presume.

:deal This is the unpopular thread not the insane one..... Mancini was a helliuva figther but Julio is all wrong for him... Chavez is too acurrate and hed making Mancinis strenghts (pressure, physical, power) a non factor.. He would make Julio look better than most top opponents of that era... Arguello hit harder than Julio..But he wouldnt let Mancini hang around that long.... Chavez wouldnt wait so long to get going, and after the first couple rounds would be busier than Boom Boom...... First 3 or 4 rounds are excellent and competetive..Mancini busier and not backing off,but JUlio at least matching Mancini with patient counters.

After that its all Julio he times Mancini drops him..... Prime Mancini fights on hard,,but Julio sweeps the mid rounds,,, Mancini is a mess by the 9th.. Julio finishes him or corner dont let him come out.

    Chavez Tko 10

If they had met in a unification matchup in 1985, Tony Tubbs would've beaten Pinklon Thomas.

golota did not beat bowe. he lost twice and does not deserve credit for a win because he was doing well before the dq. he dq'd himself...TWICE.

That's not an unpopular opinion, that's a fact. No one says Golota won, just that he was capable of outboxing Bowe.

i agree and this opinion comes from one of our previous discussions. however i have seen people, when listing golotas achievements, give him 2 wins over bowe for his resume. it's a fact he lost. it's a fact also he was winning widely in both. however, his record reads two justified loses.

I feel for Golota in the rematch as just before the finishing low blow, Bowe hits him low. Obviously Golota had been warned before this and shouldn't have retaliated, and therefore deserved his DQ. I can clearly see why he threw that low blow, I'd have done the same thing.

And if I were Bowe, I'd have done the same thing.

How many cheap shots was he to be expected to take without retaliating?

Yeh, Bowe should have socked him low earlier. That low blow by Bowe just sort of appeared from random though, it had been a round or two since Golota had strayed south and then Bowe caught him with one.

In 1983, Johnny Bumphus would've beaten Aaron Pryor for the WBA belt.
