Whyte is pretty much a left handed fighter, he'd really struggle with a southpaw who can take that weapon away from him. Fury fighting as a southpaw or Usyk would both give him fits and dominate the fight.
Ehhh...not sure it all that clearly displaced prime unbeaten Chambers, for me. (interestingly, that was another fight where the Vityaz rallied from a hole...in this case losing five on the spin to start off before Eddie inexplicably sheathed his jab and became a beta. I've still not seen Povetkin vs. Whyte but my understanding is that while some did have Sasha up at the stoppage, many did not?)
Nah, Chambers wasn't more proven than Whyte to the point where the win means more than KOing Whyte at 41. Not in highly regarded and extremely esteemed opinion. And no-one who watched it should have Povetkin up. He arguably won rounds one and three IMO, but Whyte dropping him twice in the fourth round meant he was absolutely, 100% up on points. No questions asked.
Oh right he was down twice in the fourth... I should have said "had Pov winning three of the four completed", which I know CST did along with a few others, while I've also seen plenty of cards that didn't give him a share making it a truly come from behind miracle KO.
...and, in my own not too shabbily perceived opinion, nah. You didn't see Chambers' rise up and transition from prospect to contender. I'm guessing at most of his you've seen the losses to Povetkin, Adamek, Klitschko..perhaps Mchunu? Not that I blame you; I can't see a reason for anyone recommending (or seeking out) any of his wins...they're fairly boring. He was a legit contender though, and IMO pomp for pomp h2h superior to Whyte. Many people saw him pegged to inherit the division after K2, and there's no call for them being all that embarrassed in hindsight IMO. Who knew he'd end up having a near Kingpinesque lazy streak? Or that Wlad planned to hang around so long? Your point about Sasha now being 41 as opposed to in his prime then is well taken, however. But just on base value, unqualified, prime Eddie > prime Dillian.
Whyte just isn't as good as he and Eddie thought he was, he's above the likes of Chisora and Lucas Browne but he won't be troubling AJ, Wilder and Fury I also think Dubois, Joyce and Efe Ajagba beat Whyte
He looked a bit old outside of the KO. He seemed to be bothered by body shots several times early on. I wouldn't be mad at him if he retired. Probably too much money on the table to retire now though.
As you can probably imagine the Sky commentary was horrid. I had Povetkin winning the first 3 rounds, certainly 2/3. Round 4 was a terrible round for him but the narrative some of the British outlets were spinning of it being entirely one sided before the KO is total BS.
That’s a great way to go out, especially for his age, would you rather him go out losing or beating some bum?
I agree with most of this, but Joshua can be hurt and he gives them the opportunity to take him out when hurt, that’s why I believe Whyte has a chance. Fury is on his own, then Joshua, but Wilder or Whyte CAN spark him imo(Joshua)
