The Uppercut - One of the most devastating punches in boxing, but why is it also one the most underused punches aswell? I've only seen the likes of Mike Tyson use it in every fight.
If you throw it from a distance and miss it then you are screwed. The uppercut is also a very effective punch in a street fight because most people aren't trained to defend against it.
Marquez has a hell of an uppercut, Jones JR too. One of my favourite Floyd shots in recent years was when he almost dropped Cotto in round 12, it's a shame he isn't forced into using combinations more often at the upper weights because against Maidana and Cotto he put some heavy artillery together. https://static.squarespace.com/stat...0w/slpr_zp_mayweather_sweepright_uppercut.gif That isn't the one he almost dropped him with but still a thing of beauty, under-rated punch from Mayweather is his uppercut.
George Foreman threw lots of uppercuts. Not to be mistaken by his Looping undercut punches. When Foreman threw an uppercut he would lift with his legs and body to get the most of it. See Frazier and ****ey fights for a quick reference. (The **** is C.O.O.N.E.Y)
