The USA vs. Europe Rivalry. Who's really winning?

Sorry to burst your bubble, it's never been a rivalry.

i saw a few guy doing some roadwork to day i asked if they were just getting fit or training. they said they were training . they kept talking about how the super six got them all fired up.

 

and the US will always be ahead over all

 

I think rivalry is the wrong word. It implies this is a team sport like the olympics or something.

It's only rivalry on Internet messageboards, I don't really think individual fighters are worrying about whether a guy is from the US or Ukraine, he's worrying about winning a title or defending his belt and what money is on the table. He'll knock anybodies head off that wants to take food off his table, regardless of whether he's from his street or 5000km away. It's an individual mentality.

It's just something we do here on forums to have a joke and pass the time, its not a serious part of the sport. But anyway, I guess things should be considered fairly equally balanced at the moment as far as fighters at the top level from each continent.

Perhaps true a lot/most of the time, but I think you can say fighters like say Nigel Benn for example, did take the national thing, at times, rather seriously - personally.

More recently I'd say, Hatton, took a slight nationalistic angle to the game too.

It is becoming less prominent though and I'm not sure any one in the Super Six is really excessively nationalistic about what they do, or see it as US vs Europe..etc.

It's also an element which is probably playing less and less of a part in the game today I feel.

just the past 20-25 years. all i know is we got more HOF and our fighters are known all the world over. Plus OUr Dicks are bigger which is why every time we Visit Europe your women feel so Loose after we leave :thumbsup
