But he is a southpaw, with a 78" reach. At 6'3" tall, he's not that short. The question is who can outbox him? The answer, for now, might be no one. He has is good chin and is in his prime. I'm intrigued. Joshua is not Wlad, Vitali or Lewis in terms of dominating rounds or controlling the action with his jab. He's easier to hit and takes a while to " adjust " I'd pick Usyk to beat Wilder.
Usyk wont have the power to keep Joshua at bay. Joshua himself is hard to hit, 3 inches taller ,much larger reach and 30 pounds heavier naturally at HW or around that. Hes not some slow flat footed guy, he is a dangerous counter puncher with excellent distance control in or out and LIKES southpaws bc his counter right hand is made for them. Usyk could look good against slow guys or slower guys who don't position well, but Joshua is not one of them. I don't see how a guy who struggles at his own weight or in competitive fights is favored over a SHW described above when we all know Joshua blasts through anyone Usyk fought at CW where hes most effective at with decent reach and speed.
I am on both the Usyk and Joshua train. So kill me for not hating either of two hard-working, talented guys with very different strengths and weaknesses.
And i think Wilder would knock him out. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt because he already defeated two southpaws and Ortiz is a highly skilled fighter with much more punching power than Usyk although he is not as fast and agile but Wilder isn't exactly a slow fighter so i don't think he would have problems to catch him. Usyk never fought against someone like Wilder, he had a competitive fight against Breidis and schooled the one dimensional and rather slow, flat footed Gassiev. I don't think Breidis would have a chance against Wilder but i probably don't rate him as highly as you do.
A Whyte fan calling Usyk a hype job smh Your boy needs to stop ducking old man Ortiz. Dill boy wants none of that Cuban work
Joshua, and Dillian and Takam I agree actually there ... and did say that there are some others. I respect those three + Parker + Chisora and odd others for the same reasons, and adding Usyk into that mix only makes things better. What we don't need IMO is any more HW's who don't seem to train for big fights/come in out of shape (eg, Browne, Stiverne, etc.), make every fight a lengthy negotiation/social media saga that may not even happen after-all (Fury, Haye, etc.), fight once a year if that or twice against low level opposition (Breazeale, Pulev, Dinu, etc.), or avoids fighting the best (Wilder - even tho. he's probably got the ability to do so). Or any more HWs with drugs baggage. Joshua, Whyte, Parker + Usyk + the top amateurs who have recently turned pro + (maybe Wilder)... will make for a good division at the start of the 2020s, with hopefully most of the others who aren't really committed to the sport knocked out of the picture.
I actually got a kick out of Aydamn and appreciated his support for his fighter, but since he seems to be permanently banned, let's bump this one. I am on board the train, friend! Been on board for years and the view of the boxing world rushing by is great! Nice use of Waterworld, and whereas it was supposed to be ironic, it is actually quite appropriate for a guy who has become a legend in 19 fights. How about this one in celebration of his serial killer act. From Halloween... I was told that there was nothing left, no reason, no conscience, no understanding, not even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or even, right or wrong. I was introduced to this six year old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes...the devil's eyes. I spend eight years trying to reach him, and another seven trying to keep him locked away, when I realized that what lie behind those eyes, was purely and simply evil. THE DEVIL'S EYES! Usyk is one of a kind. Absolutely great for the sport. BTW Another anti-Usyk thread from the past. They seem endless.
It’s always funny to read Aydamn with his peabrain and his close to zero boxing knowledge trying to educate people.
Briedis now is old, over the hill. Wilder is exactly tailor made for prime Briedis version to beat up Wilder. KO on counter. Briedis looks simple, but he is sneaky, does set traps with showing supposedly his weak points with intent to provoke certain punches. He does clinches well and is strong for his size. Does have skills to maul and spoil. Also, despite looking simple and so on, thing he loves is opponents, who are going to KO him with predictable windmills, huge haymakers. For Briedis even Parker might be worse opponent than Wilder. Wilder, Whyte, Chisora are tailor made opponents vs prime Briedis. While not likely prime Briedis might beat Fury f.e and some lower ranked HW boxers than top 10 might had gave Briedis more problems. He hates not easy to predict movers with good footwork with good output ratio more than vs predictable punchers who are going for 1 punch KO. In am KB he had stopped lads who had intent to KO him, while had lost on points vs lads who get with intent to win him on points. In am boxing he had lost vs one lad on points, next fight lad get more confident and attempted to drop him. Lad was stopped by Briedis in distance. I think even prime shape Hunter might gave him more problems than Wilder. Prime Pov version etc examples. Holyfield 200-210 not over the hill versions had been nightmare for prime Briedis, Wilder if compare with this : easy night.
