You have a point with Vargas and Salido being warriors, but you're way off base with Canelo. You see, Canelo vacated the title because he wanted to negotiate a better deal for himself, rather than letting it go to purse bid where GGG as the interim champ would receive a 45% cut from the negotiations. You know this C.J Rock but wanna play dumb, because you're a GGG turdmeister. And as far as I know they're still negotiating a fight, that will most likely be staged next year.

I rank Vargas-Salido over all those fights you said were better, the only ones i would probably rate over Vargas Salido are Segura-Marquez and Concepcion-Marquez I and thats about it. The Estrad a-Gonzalez fight is up there too but for different reasons, it was probably the most skilled two way fight of this decade.

But its a mater of taste and i respect your opinion.

Thats true Drew, There have been some great fights at 130 like Chacon-Limon IV,Chacon Edwards II,Morales-Pacquiao I,Morales,Barrera II,Roach-Cordova or even if you go further down in time Canzoneri-Kid Chocolate(i think it was at 130) but like you said this one is also one of the best ever at 130 no doubt about it, terrific fight, it will take something very special to surpass it as 2016 FOTY.

The way I describe that night of boxing to my friends was that the undercard fight was the best fight I had seen all year... until I saw the main event. Holy cow!!!

The best fight I'd seen this year before Salido vs Vargas was Conlan vs Nelson, but I haven't seen everything. There's always something crazy in Asia, South America, or Eastern Europe that slips under my radar.

Canzoneri-Chocolate was considered lightweight, though neither guy weighed much over the 130lb limit. Hell of a fight, though.

A lot of 130lb fights have been truly amazing, though

    Marcano-Kobayashi
    Navarette-Choi,
Arguello-Escalera II (first one was excellent, too)
    Pac-Marquez II
    Gatti-Ruelas
    Frietas-Barrios

And others that I probably missed.

Vargas-Salido is in good company- but I really think that it was indeed good enough to belong there.
