European style? Whats that? Could you even break it down? There are holes in every style - no matter how talented the fighter is. This is the fight business - punches will be thrown and fighters will get hit. Yea, every once in a while someone like Lomachenko completely schools a fighter like Nicholas Walters. But then you have the guys like Roman Martinez who will land a few good head shots.
Marcos Maidana learned quite a bit in just a few short years. Antony Crolla might be the best recent example. There is always a possibility if the fighter has time on their side. Khytrov still has a chance. Or he could easily go down again like Rakhim Chakhkiev, and come back even worse off than he was before. (I swear, that man is dumber than Victor Ortiz)
Its surprisingly simple. The man doesn´t know how to pace himself. Against Wlodarczyk, he went balls to walls and paid the price once he ran out of steam. Two years later he makes the same mistake against Ola Afolabi, but this time he is even more aggressive. He basically amplified his own shortcomings, thinking it would benefit him. These days he just throws wild punches in hopes of getting his opponent out of there. In his last fight, against Vlasov, Chakiev started the fight on the right note. He held his hands high and moved around the ring, sensing the distance and getting a feel for his opponent. Then just after parrying a few jabs and combinations, Chakhkiev drops his hands and bends low, trying to go for some slick left shot to Vlasovs body. Vlasov, a technical tactician, immediately tags him with a right hand. This in turn forces Chakiev to pull his guard back up. And what do you know? Chakhkiev once again is parrying Vlasovs shots, and with relative ease, or it would seems so. As the round goes on, Chakhkiev finds more success in his unorthodox attack approach, which in turn makes Vlasov more cautious. A minute left in the round, we see Chakhkiev beautifully stay in the pocket, slipping, parrying and lands his own crisp shots. And then he suddenly throws one of the worst left hooks of his career! The man looses all balance, drops his guard and does this against an opponent who clearly was not in his punching range. I dont know what Chakhkiev was expecting. And now Chakhkiev once again turns back to his unorthodox style of attack and defence, resulting in Vlasov tagging him with good power shots. Chakhkiev, who is forced to pull his guard back up, answers with some beautiful left hands. The second round KD by Vlasov was a beautiful counter right ro Chakhkievs sloppy right hook. Chakhkiev gets back up and starts throwing that sloppy hook again. And after that it was all downhill. I remember Chakhkiev throwing a left hook and falling to the floor due to **** poor balance. Even the Russian commentator asked :"What is this"(in a disappointed voice.)
It's shame, because Chakiev possesses a great natural ability for the sport, but his boxing iq is so low.
Two top 10 P4P talents emerged from one squad in less than four years not including WSB. Yeah what a failure. Don't worry Marcus Bronwe will crash that party any day now.
Lomachenko , Usyk - P4P Superstars. future all time greats Gvozdyk- brilliant prospect potentially a P4P guy too Shelestyuk, Berinchyk - very good prospects Khytrov- very exciting fighter to watch,he can come back, will defo be in fight if the year type fights I certainly wouldn't rule him out picking up a world title & Ukraine have Derevyanchenko - the best prospect in boxing, plus Teslenko & Golub- two very good prospects.
So Usyk will be a dwarf based on what, that he lost 2 rounds to Mchunu, a tricky slickster? It's not like that other cruiserweights (or heavyweights) have the style Mchunu has. That fight has no bearing on the future.
Lomachenko: Needs to stop messing around for so long. Usyk: Is in front of his biggest test. Taras:Never sold on him. Berynchik:Needs to fight more often. Khytrovrobably burned out from the amateurs already. Gvozdyk:Never sold on him.
