Hmm, yeah, pretty mediocre, but never the less his power would be dangerous to Oscar De La Hoya.

Maskaev was no upset. That was Oleg's 7th fight. I don't think he was supposed to win.

    My pick is Jesse Ferguson.

    A HOF'er ? Wow... that's some harsh judgement.

Carlos Baldomir. He certainly proved himself to be one of the best medicore fighters over the last few years.

Maurice Harris, after winning the 100,000 Thunderbox Tournament several years ago, Cedric Kushner called him the best 19-12 fighter in the world.

Kid Norfolk was good, but he is only in the IBHOF because people know black fighters were treated poorly pre World War II and that putting them in a hall of fame, eases consciences.

Kid Norfolk would of much preferred a shot at McTigue, Tunney or Carpentier and the money that would of come with it, rather than having to go war with Siki, Greb and whole load of normally black Heavies for peanuts.

If that really is the ONLY reason, it is a load of BS that he is even listed!

I've nothing against blacks, but if they get listed only because of dark skin, it is BS! Plain and simple.

You got any facts to back up your assumption?

It is an assumption, but reading up on Siki, Greb, Carpentier and Tunney, he is considered a footnote. A tough fighter no doubt but not truly worth anything more than a mention at the time. Think of him as a Jerry Quarry or Ike Quartey, who were very good fighters in their era and worth talking about, but IMO neither deserves a place in a whole of boxing Hall of Fame.

You're entitled to your opinion of coarse...but I would say considering what historians thought of his fighting abilities and his record against the best and toughest of his era...that is what put him in the HOF! Mediocre? I don't think so!

Mike Weaver rose from journeyman status in his early career to become more than dangerous later on. I'd hardly call him mediocre, but he did very well fight and perform to the level of that mindset for a decent period of time so i think he is a fair shout.
