Was it a left hook or an uppercut? It struck the chin like an uppercut, but Walcott swung his arm as if it were a hook. Is this a hybrid punch of some sort? Either way, it looks like it hurt like hell. Is there an official name for this punch?
It wasn't thrown the way most left hooks are, though. He didn't even swing his arm. I remember Bert Sugar and Ray Mancini debating this exact punch. The punch seems like a hook/uppercut all at once.
Mancini in that Ringside says it's a uppercut-hook hybrid or something to that effect. I tend to agree. The Charles KO is more of a uppercut than the Marciano knockdown imo.
Can you post an example of that punch? I've never heard of it. I thought a picture perfect left hook was the kind thrown by Joe Frazier or Joe Louis? I thought you had to rotate your arm.
