Why didn't we get to see John Mugabi against Julian Jackson? I believe this fight had the potential to be a classic after Hagler/Hearns.

    Who wins this fight? :boxing1

I mean before that. Your right though. Jackson got better after losing to McCallum.

When The Beast's eye heals, match him with Jackson for the WBA 154lb title in late '87 after McCallum vacates.

Jackson won the title November 87. His first actual title defense was mid 88.

Mugabi was thumped back to back by Hagler and Thomas by the end of 86 and didn't fight in 87. He then fought a bunch of no names around middleweight until mid 89 when he fought Jacquot for the title.

Around the same time Jackson wiped the floor with Norris so it could have happened i guess. Mugabi had lost a fair bit of shine tho and didn't get it back as he wasn't beating any name opponents (and not actually fighting at 154) or i am guessing they would have fought.
