The Ward win validates ducking in boxing.

I think the fight was even except for the knockdown which means that Kovalev won the fight. I think Ward would probably win the rematch too.

With that said, Kovalev took $2M while Ward was given $5M. You know damn well that if the positions were reversed, there is no way in hell this fight would happen.

So in my eyes, it was Kovalev that took the bigger risk, especially considering he was the underdog in this fight.

When you steal a man's titles after convincingly winning the fight and taking a huge risk, you lessen the chance that fights like this will occur in the future and encourage ducking behavior.

Why should a boxer take a risk like this if they know there is a strong possibility the judging won't be fair and it will ultimately diminish their earning potential?

It's crazy. Decisions like this ruin the sport. Nobody is going to want to face the other guy, especially on the terms Kovalev accepted when things like this happen.

 

Because Kovalev won. Therefore, Kovalev's titles were stolen.

It's a slap in the face. Kovalev is the one that made this fight. He took less than HALF of what Ward made just to make the fight and then he put Ward on his ass and out boxed him.
