It's not a given. But Jones was just getting KO'd right and left but wasn't thoroughly outboxed except vs Calzaghe. That was hard to watch. Jones couldn't deal with his speed. That was his worst loss imo. I think Calzaghe gives him trouble in hia prime.

I did notice some, but I just recently watched this fight. I'm a fan of Jones style, more than Calzaghes'. Calzaghe just humiliated Roy in this fight though. Never seen someone land so much on Roy. Roy was pretty gunshy and past it, but Calzaghe was past it as well and his hands were always ****. I think both in their prime is a good fight. Calzaghe's volume + speed could trouble Jones.

Defensive wizard James Toney tried sticking his chin out at prime Roy for half an instance and went flying backwards across the ring and sat in the corner.

Joe left his chin out at Roy for what seemed like forever, and I remember being so frustrated that Jones didn't load up a punch and smash him... Joe would have never done that had Roy been prime, that would have been a death wish.... That fight would have looked much different if Roy was prime.. Roy was done, and Joe knew it.

Plus, Tarver also outboxed Jones in the third fight.

Joe knew how good Roy was in his prime that's why he never dared to chase that fight and when his sons saw footage of an old Jones and they started crying he told them don't worry kids he's not that good anymore ..Joe would have been blown out the water agaisnt a prime Roy and he knew it.

That was faded, bloated, brittle handed Calzaghe at the very end of his career also
