Woods?! That's an even more pointless idea than fighting Haye. Did you see the Woods-Tarver fight???

Calzaghe should fight Pavlik after RJJ then retire.

Calzaghe would beat Dawson, Tarver or G.Johnson.

Pavlik will give him a sterner test. I see that fight as 50-50.

Kessler was overrated, he is the best man at 168 now, but he will never be as good as Calzaghe or Hopkins or RJJ, he will never be in that league. Carl Froch would give him a real good fight.

And to the guy who said Calzaghe would be much bigger than Pavlik- think again. Pavlik is almost 4 inches taller than Calzaghe and is, like Hopkins before him, a light-heavyweight who can make the middleweight limit. Did Hopkins look too small when he jumped from middleweight to light-heavyweight to fight career LHW Tarver? No. Did Pavlik look uncomfortable in defeating Jermain Taylor with a 166lbs weight limit? No. Pavlik and Calzaghe will comparable in size should they fight.

And remember- Pavlik could insist the bout is made at 170lbs catchweight like Winky did v Hopkins.

Kessler is better in every way than Pavlik for me, perhaps equal power. I agree Pavlik is overrated, and I don't think Joe has to fight him to prove anything.

I don't think you'll find that at all. Loads of boxing journalists and fighters alike agree think Calzaghe's career has been full of puff.

Well I'm sure you've already heard all the rudimentary arguments people make against those thoughtless plattitudes of yours, so me repeating them again is unlikely to move you. I'm satisfied that enough people disagree with you to make it inconsequential what you think.

This is true. Calzaghe is the man who splits opinions. Some, like Smiffy, think he has had an 'excellent career'. Some, like me, think he has always been a very talented fighter, but wasted his career 1997-2006 fighting sub-standard opposition and not chasing the big fights. And some others think he is overrated to the point of ****. And then there are those on ESB who believe he is 'The Greatest Fighter Of The Last 25 Years'...

Actually I meant to write Dawson, not woods. My mistake.

Anyway I can find little that is compelling or of sound logic in anything you say so I guess I'll just beg to differ with you.

This is where I'm coming from. I'm not about to dispute that he's a great fighter. It just pisses me off that an '0' and a display of talent seems to amount to 'nothing left to prove' to some people. If Joe Calzaghe's resume is what counts as 'nothing left to prove' these days I'm resigning my interest in boxing.

Don't you feel rather silly now after you rudely dismissed me as saying nothing of logic, when we clearly feel the exact same regarding Calzaghe?

I don't see how someone who beat Taylor twice, and hammered Miranda, can be overrted:huh

Anyone can be overrated, it's do with the congruence betweens someones talent and their rating. i.e. I could overrate Ray Robinson if I say he wasn't a mortal.

Yeah, because if your a 1-2 fighter it means that you just compleatly throw 1-2's . Of course he throws hooks, but on the whole Pavlik stands in front of you and pounds you with constant jabs, with a few hooks thrown in. This for me this is a 1-2 fighter.

As for those who say how can I call him over rated, just ask your self, if he was european would he be any where near to the fighter everyone labels him as?
