Here's how it works with the WBA. If you're a champion, then defending the title only draws attention to yourself. Within a couple of defences they will have an interim champion and at least one number one contender. Don't defend it and you don't draw attention to yourself. See also Shane Mosley.

Nobody wants to see Guillermo Jones, that a fact. hes a decent fighter, but thats it.
virgil hill hasnt fought for a while and firat arslan has retires-as far as i heard.

most like will be a unification bout,i think the IBF belt is vacant as well.

marco huck vs. BJ flores sounds like a good match up.

Cw sucks without Haye and Adamek and WBA sucks as a federation

Guillermo Jones (an old fat, hopelessly inactive, but still decent, former welterweight) won the title in September 2008 and hasn't fought since, which is not unusual if you look at boxrec. He was supposed to defend it late last year and again this year against Valery Brudov, who is like a cruiser John Ruiz in terms of getting title opportunities. Both times the fight fell apart and now they are talking about an interim title fight involving Arslan.
