And people thought Saul alvarez vs Matthew Hatton for the Wbc world title was bad......... Im sure this must have come up a few weeks ago but i missed it so :nono Has there ever been a less deserving pair to fight for a world title than Rigoberto Alvarez 26-2(sauls brother) vs Austin Trout 21-0 For the wba world light middleweight title. :fire Alvarez has never beaten anyone anywhere near world class his best win was Nobuhiro Ishida 22-5 and it was a split decision in mexico it was also the first time Ishida had fought outside of japan. In 2009 he lost to William Gare 25-14. He got tko'd by marco antonio rubio aswell. Trout's previous 3 fights before the alvarez fight were Taronze Washington 13-10 Nilson Julio Tapia 11-1 Marcos Primera 20-17 The only good thing I think I can say about this is that now that Trout is the beltholder(could'nt bring myself to say world champ) he say's he wants to fight Ryan Rhodes in England as he believe's he got screwed over by the wbc (Rhodes is ranked #4 wbc), which I guess is a pretty decent thing to do.
Oh but dont worry though because Alvarez is till interim Champ and Cotto is Super Champion. The wba can expect to recieve a lot of hate mail in the morning.
First, the guy who Alvarez beat to win the title (Ishida) was even worse. Second, Trout is pretty good. Just hasn't gotten much exposure. All of the organizations have horrible title fights. The WBO had one that was much worse not long ago (Jesus Geles vs. Omar Soto). How about we all just agree that the ABCs suck and just ignore what they do in the future?
