    If a paper trinket makes this fight happen then so be it. The WBA doesn't dispute that Wladimir is the real heavyweight champion.

    It's not an eliminator because neither of these guys want to fight Wlad right away.

    Probably, but let's hope you're wrong and that Liakovitch is in excellent condition. RH is not so awesome that he would coast against a prime Liakovitch.

    The WBA super championship is actually a good thing for Wlad. Just like if the WBO champion is dominant, they become lenient in letting the champion pick his mandatories when he wants to fight them, because the regular champ deals with all the mandatories. It gives Wlad the time to pick whichever mandatory he wants to deal with without getting stripped. And before, you normally only get the Super Champion status when you obtain 2 or more belts.

    What sucks about this is that apparently they just give the Super, Regular and Interim titles like it's candy now.

    Alright now speaking of Alexander Povetkin he will be going for the WBA regular belt. In your opinion what does this belt mean if Alexander even wins it?

    STEWARD: I think it’s a disgrace to boxing, not just because of this because it’s the heavyweight division. When you have a world champion and then you’re coming up and creating another world champion. I thought I was the world champion? No, we just gave you a title. You’re the super champion, or you’re the platinum champion. Boxing is so confusing with four major boxing bodies and four champions, and now you’re going to start splitting it up and having two world champions in the same weight and same organization. It’s totally a joke and it’s an embarrassment to boxing. There is so much confusion that if I wasn’t just in boxing at the level I was, just as a general fan in the public, I wouldn’t have any interest any more. There is too much confusion already. You were the WBA champion. Povetkin wouldn’t fight Wladimir Klitschko because he never thought he was ready, so they created a situation where he can still fight and be world champion without fighting Klitschko and they did the same thing in the WBC where they gave it to Julio Cesar Chavez Junior and they created a situation where he could be a world champion without fighting a world champion. If we continue to do this, boxing is having its problems already except maybe for just the super fights, this doesn’t help us at all.

    Imo Steward is playing to the crowd. The WBA has unambiguously crowned Wlad its super champ. This way, Wladimir doesn't even have to face al lot of mandatories...only face the WBA's paper champ every year and a half or so.

    As others have noted, the WBA paper title played a big role in promoting Haye and setting up Wladimir's biggest pay-day ever.

    It's a good fight. If it takes a paper title to make a fight like this, then so be it.
