Well, I respect TFFP and your opinions so much I feel I'm missing something Or more like, I;m struggling to see why I'm apparently so unreasonable on him :good If you haven't seen the first two rounds, watch 'em, Ramirez dropped twice by big shots!!! First fight very good. Hector Camacho puts on a career best performance against Ramirez IMO (though I can understand those who rank his decimation of Limon higher)
I dunno mate. :conf Yeah I've seen them. Didn't waste any time in reminding Ramirez what he had did he? :yep
Nope, Ramirez was hard to out-war though, as Rosario learned to his chagrin :yep Brutal stoppage as well Would you agree that I'm unreasonable? Or can you see what I mean?
I liked the way he started targeting the body after Rosario had turned around... he took some punishment there. Unreasonable? Mate, you were calling him 'abysmal' and that was just the first result I found.
Well I admit that was harsh. I still attest to the fact I didn't see him doing all that much at 'Elite' level, for reasons I've already gone over. He was good, fairly dangerous and awkward, but nothing special IMO. I guess that's just what I shoulda said to begin with, rather than terrorising his ability :good Always had a hunch that his chin wouldn;t stand up, probably just looking into the Mosquera kd too much. I rarely go for 'gut feeling' and rather proof and evidence, maybe I should disregard that facet of my argument as he never showed to have a dodgy beard, only fought one puncher though, C-rate Pitalua who he destroyed, still, showed a willingness to go in with a puncher. I have tried to tone down my 'trash talking' as of late, though my earlier altercation with Rob probably shows otherwise. Oh, and yeah, he spun him and Rosario was done Great little war that, Ramirez one of the mot underrated Mexican fighters ever IMO. Probably a reason I've always been negative on Valero, aheard so much about him after nearly 20 fights, was always searching for what made him apparently so good rather than following his progression naturally, therefore I was always liable to be a bit more negative than him than most. As I said above, still not sure he was any better than he showed he was. He would've made for an intriguing opponent for Bradley @140, or JMM @135, and could've been right in the mix in the pack behind JMM, but no more IMO, I couldn't see him claiming any of the top scalps :good
That's pretty much what I think of him. I don't think many people think he would have done much at the top level, especially against someone like JMM. We were robbed of some cracking matchups though. Drop him in there now and think about Katsidis, Bam Bam or even his 2 countrymen. Like I said in the Choi the other day, I reckon some of the hype got to you and then you just started tearing into him in classic Flea Man fashion. :yep
For sure. You know, I easily forget how often I would post in the General a few years back. I was up against it then, and often resorted to dirty tactics (sometimes for a rise, sometimes out of spite). I maintain that I always said he was exciting and that I enjoyed watching him fight! I wanted to see what happened when he really jumped into the deep end, I reckon after DeMarco we would've seen that, shame he was such a nasty ****er outside the ring. It's something I don't do anymore, but I allowed that to transfer over into discussions with more level-headed posters when analysing Valero for sure, and that was wrong. You seem to have the same view of him as I have, I'm glad TFFP and yourself have helped him come to a balanced view of him, something I obviously make a point of as being very important when judging a fighters merits. I used to be a lot more extreme on here IMO. As I said to Rob, I made some truly ABYSMAL (;-)) contributions to the Classic Forum when discussing 'old timers' until I realised I had no cut off point and I couldn't 'one rule for 'modern' fighters and another for them' and started ranking fighters based the strength of their respective eras. I once picked Hagler to stop Greb :rofl
He didn't look too shook up after the Mosquera KD. Not enough to make major assumptions anyway, IMO. There is no doubting his heart anyway. I think Bradley and JMM are horrible matchups for him but he would have slotted in that chasing pack behind JMM nicely.
**** me, I was convinced Audley would spark Dempsey whenever he wanted due to 'modern conditioning' :rofl :rofl :rofl God I was a mong :deal It's a sharp learning curve; you either admit you're wrong and ignorant and get up to scratch, or learn **** all, stick to your uneducated guns and be seen as an ignoramus.
think i must of been being a dick before as khama hit me in a bad way. think i have broken my foot. in a&e now!
Dunno, think you goota post the pic on a site so youncan use the URL??? Then click the picture of a mountain, but you knew that anyway. I know nowt about image hosting.
Rob, still waiting to hear your theory as to why I 'overrate fighters from the past' :deal When clearly it's a stupid argument, Like me saying 'why do you overrate fighters from the last ten years?'
