All these titles going around are ridiculous. I barely keep note of who has what titles these days, they are irrelevant and confuse people.

Not particularly. ESPN jizz over it like it's the only one that counts, Showtime never mention it and HBO might give it a passing mention, as they would the alphabet belts. They seem more interested in the mythical 'lineal' champions, rather than referring to the actual Ring belt.

I can't wait to hear Kellermann's pre-fight rant on the sanctioning bodies for this fight.

 

how do you work that out? they rarely mention it on broadcasts and they have not shown the last fight for 4 of the 6 champions.

also if they liked the title you would think martinez the champion agaisnt a top10 ring fighter would have been ok.

At 154 thereS good fights he could make. Cintron and Margorito rematches, Cotto, Angulo ETC

 

weight jumping is really starting to **** me of. I would much rather see a guy just stay in a division and dominate for a 5-6 year period like Hopkins and Calzaghe did. the weight jumping just allows them to cherry pick.

i don't agree the belts are meaningless. i think you just need to look at them in a certain way. I just use them as gagues of where someone is. In Golf, Tennis and even football you have multiple competitions but your still able to say xxx is the best player or team. you can do it with boxing with the belts.

Also mandatorys often throw up some of the better fights in boxing. Last year Pascal vs Dawson, Marquez vs Katsidis were mandatory fights. Hopkins vs Pascal next week is a mandatory.

He's the number 1 middleweight in the world, by a mile, it doesn't make sense to fight a light middle unless he needs to. If he could fight there last year, he can probably fight there now.

it does make sense to fight at 154 if theres no big fights at 160 and your having to bring 154 fighters up. martinez said himself last week he is considering going back down.

yes but they also throw up good fights. the problem with the belts is theres to many of them. 1 would be perfect obviously, but if there was only 2 boxing would be in a much stronger position.

 

But when he went to 160, the big fights were there. Not so much now, so if he can still make it, now is the time to move back.

I just wouldn't want Cintron getting the fight off the back off the joke officials last time. Margarito would be more interesting than that. There isn't really a stand out fight for him.

 

the biggest fight out there for him that could realistically happen is Williams 3.
