Pascal vs Dawson was a really good fight. I think Pascal has received a lot of unfair criticism for the Hopkins fight, and never got the credit he deserved for exposing the ultimate hypejob. I know the lead right is supposed to be the money punch against southpaws but Pascal was taking the **** with it. Not even being subtle, launching them from a mile off and then putting the left hook & right hook double in afterwards.
yeh Pascal has taken a bad wrap after the hopkins fight. he is not the judges. the guy is still a warrior and he has jumped right back in with hopkins.
He definitely lost the fight, 8-4 or something like that.... but to his credit doesn't seem mentally unsure of himself like most Hopkins victims, win or lose. I think he'll lose more convincingly this time, but that's a measure of how good Hopkins is rather than any faults with Pascal - who's a very good fighter despite the obvious drawbacks in stamina and workrate. It's not as if he had to take either fight with Hopkins either.... could have easily have pressed ahead with a rematch with Dawson and beat him again before moving on to another challenger. Can't knock him.
i had it a draw. Hopkins drifts through fights just doing enough. Pascal, Taylor, Calzaghe all fights he didnt win because of himself not being prepared to do more. its like he prefers the controversy.
But this time B-Hop brought the heat late! Pascal is quality for beating Dawson...himself a fighter with some glaring flaws. It's down to his, and Pascals own flaws, that a 46 year old, regardless of how technically astute he is, is able to have a chance to be the no.1 in the division. Somewhere, Archie Moore is applauding :bbb
Because he'd had it easy early on against Pascal Flea, both Taylor and Calzaghe beat Hops because of workrate.
Would say Pascal landed better shots than either of 'em (certainly Joe) but yes, he didn't pressurise enough down the stretch.
please sarcasm? a guy on the general did a complete breakdown of Calzaghes career... It was like a horror movie script
