Bute-Andrade and Taylor-Froch. Cool to see the top guys squaring off like that. The last couple of years we have had Kessler-Beyer, Kessler-Mundine, Kessler-Siaca, Calzaghe-Lacy and Calzaghe-Kessler. Will be two great fights and both are really intriguing.
Feller Froch could have fought your boy Bute, feller! That would have been a big fight. I want me Jermain to fight someone proven like Lacy. Froch could be better than Lacy, but we ain't gonna be sure until he fights a non-bum. It's a shame for Froch his fight with that Inkin feller fell through. If he beat Inkin, a fight against Jermain would have made sense. Now he gets a shot at the WBC when he's only fought bums. Real crazy, if you ask me.
Yap, sure is good for my favourite division, feller! Would be nice to see Andrade take on my man, Jermain, once they win their fights.
Well Froch did ko Brian Magee , who was robbed against Tsypko in a European title fight . That doesn't really qualify a title shot on it's own but when you consider how Froch has dealt with his opposition and that Inkin pulled out of the eliminator it is only right Froch gets his chance . Some would say Taylor is luckier to be involved in this considering he has lost his last two fights(albeit at a very high level) .
True, true, all true, feller; got to give you that. As I was saying, Taylor should fight Lacy and Froch should fight Inkin and the winners should fight for the belt. Feller Inkin thought better about fighting Froch, though, so he should get a shot now, rules is rules! My beef is he's unproven! Not many get a title shot without beating a world class fighter first. Froch ain't never done that, see?
I am surprised they gave Taylor a shot given that he's never fought at 168 lbs before and is coming off a loss but as some people have said, there are just not that many contenders who are not engaged in some way. Froch must be thanking his lucky stars because he was always dreaming of fighting a big American name, just like Kessler and Bute were, without getting anywhere yet. I am glad that Froch is going to be tested, though. If Taylor employs the right strategy and keeps the fight on the outside using his jab, if he moves well and if he concentrates on counterpunching and on scoring with his left hook, he shouldn't have too many troubles. If, however, he starts trading with Froch or lets himself be pushed back against the ropes, Froch will finish him. Very good fight for the division and for the fans. Should really tell us what Froch is all about. If he beats Taylor, it means he is good enough to give anyone a run for their money, given his style.
Word on the street is Taylor might be fighting Lacy next with a view to targeting Kessler or Bute in 2009.
Lacy is definitely a fight he should win. However, I think that he should pound out a bum or two before stepping up in class. He is coming off two very hard fought losses, and needs to retool.
Taylor's always fought the best, though, one after another. It would be strange to see him go against a lesser fighter next.
My view is that Taylor should forget all about Lacy, who is finished, and go after a live, dangerous, hungry and unbeaten guy like Froch. He'd also get a title shot in doing so. This fight makes sense.
Exactly my thoughts. Taylor doesn't deserve a shot but who cares? Froch-Taylor is a fight to get excited. :happy Lacy should fight the likes of Allan Green, Edison Miranda or Sakio Bika. Unfortuneatly, US TV networks don't agree with me - and we'll get Taylor-Lacy.
you don't call this a tune-up? granted its for a paper title that someone else didnt want, but jermain is gonna own this guy... jermain's been in with the absolute best and froch has fought nobody ive even heard of
Froch is a tricky proposition for anyone because he has true one punch KO power. You lose concentration for one second and you're a goner! Taylor sometimes gets tired late on and he sometimes makes the wrong tactical decision, so Froch will be dangerous.
