I personally think it’s because the WBC rankings are determined by promoters more than others, and they allow promoters to dictate to them who their champions face. The WBC needs to dictate more to its champions who they face.

Stevenson should have been stripped due to inactivity, but most likely hasn’t been because his promoters have made some payments to the WBC.

Just go to boxrec and look at Vitali’s opponents and compare them to Wlads over the same period. The level of opponent is weak in comparison.

Haymon made Breazeale mandatory because he is owned by Haymon and the WBC does what Haymon tells them to do. VADA cleared Povetkin, yet WBC would not allow that fight to happen, because Haymon did not want Wilder to get knocked out! Povetkin was declared not guilty, and it was found that he did not take meldonium after its official prohibition that started January 1, 2016. NOT GUILTY!!! Wilder should be forced to fight Povetkin ASAP!

There's clearly some US financial backing in the background....

How can they get it right with Porter v Garcia, 1 v 2....

But call Whyte v Ortiz, 1 v 3, for 'second mandatory'?

    Wasn't Breazeale v Molina like 4 v 14 at the time?

When Finkel says he has 50 million USD for AJ to fight Wilder we know he is good for it.

The issue for Hearn is if AJ loses that’s his cash cow gone

How do we know he is good for it?

    The PBC is in Crisis.....
They lost a $7 million purse bid to Povetkin lol....
And have just been told to pay Povetkin $4 million but are appealing.

Wilder earns $2 million a fight...Spence $1 million etc etc.

If he's got the money, why are Haymon fighters so poorly paid?
Better still, why not leak the proof of the escrow account to the media?
He likes doing stuff like that!

i dont think so, a round robin of aj, wilder and even a fat out of shape fury would sell out in england every time.

Non-Europeans are really struggling to comprehend Joshua's ability to earn from a fight.

He's earning over $15,000,000 fighting Takam.

england is really becoming a center for boxing, because the customers are there. i give the brits a lot of chit about their unwavering belief in their fighters, even to the point of fanboyism, but they put their money where their mouth is.

Nah not really. Even if AJ loses to Povetkin next, AJ would still sell out stadiums, sell tons of PPV's and be the biggest draw at heavyweight. Look at Haye, he's fought a fat, Scouse cruiserweight and still made more than double Wilder's record purse. Imagine how much money Haye would make if he fought someone good. Brit fans are loyal, losing doesn't effect marketability much.

Look at Hatton after his first loss to Floyd, his very next fight was in the Man city football stadium in front of 55K fans. That loss didn't seem to effect his popularity much and AJ is more popular than even Hatton.

Look at how many Brits paid to watch Bruno lose time and again. He fought Lewis in a stadium, he fought McCall in a stadium.

Froch's biggest and most lucrative fights came after his losses to Ward and Kessler.

What Haymon is really scared off is having to actually throw Wilder in against someone good who isn't signed to him and he loses control of the WBC title. His PBC experiment is spiraling the drain and if the rumours of Hearn's streaming deal is true, it's a game changer that will alter the landscape of how boxing is viewed and exposes his backwards business model to boxing.

The customers are there in the US aswell.....

The huge problem I see is that when building a fighter, they take no interest in building their profile too.

Nobody wants to watch 15-30 fights against bums.

The domestic scene is too small too. It just always seems to be US fighter v Cuban/Mexican/European etc.

Wilder v Miller is the greatest example of this. There's a undefeated WBC champ on your doorstep, and Miller makes no noise about Wilder at all.
Both guys get bigger after a fight like that, just look at Dillian Whyte's career. His 'biggest win' was his loss to Joshua.

There's a clear progression in the UK.......

    Area level - British - European/Commonwealth - World

You need a good domestic scene if you want to grow the sport.

we have more fans in the us, but were spread out over an area 40 times bigger. if i lived in england, i would drive to every big fight in the country. you know the logistics involved in catching a fight in vegas, next month in new york, los angeles in september? luckily i live in a city that gets its fair share of big fights. england is becoming a vegas with more suburbs, which is great for the sport.

You don’t think Showtime and Las Vegas promotions would stump up the advance for such a mega fight?

Like they did for that farcical fight Floyd had against Conor.

To me, for many reasons, the WBC is the worst of the bunch. Of them all they are the ones that seem to screw over and cheat deserving Boxers from title shots they have earnt. They seem more than happy to **** on anybody to get what they want.

    Yes I believe they can...

Hearn has said multiple times that he believes Haymon has the potential to offer $50 mil, but he wants to see it.

    You have to provide proof.

Wilder has a history of paying peanuts to opponents aswell as a history of wrongly pulling out of fights.....
His team actually just lost $4 million in damages to povetkin.
