Owning a WBC title does not make a fighter elite anymore, it makes you more marketable but that is all. Last nights card, was more of the same smoke and mirrors that boxing fans have been subjected to for years now. Canelo defends his gift light middleweight by beating another non-regarded welterweight. Morales gets gifted Tim Bradleys title, even though he just came off a loss to Maidana and Cano was unheralded (and I like Morales). Ortiz is given a big money fight, not because of his accomplishments, but because he happens to hold a WBC title.

The WBC was at one time the most prestigious title to have, but those years are long gone. At this point, it needs to be downgraded in order for boxing to move forward. Boxing was fine before the WBC and it will be fine after. By putting them out of business they will no longer continue to disrespect the great WBC champions of the past. Jose Sulaiman and his cronies are not going to change. They are a bankrupted organization that care about making money, not the future of boxing.

The National Boxing Asscociation World Title was at one time the most highly reguarded. its been gone for decades, but boxing is still here. Boxing organizations come and go, and its time for the WBC to go.

Right on the money! I like both Canelo and Morales but those fights should not be happening.

I think this fight would've happened irrelevant of what title he had. PBF just needed a chump. :)

I wish something could be done about this.

The WBA needs to go too with all their bullcrap 2-3 champions in every division.. WBO and IBF are the best of the organisations today.

I agree, take the WBA with them. Its disgraceful that Povetkin holds a title and Wlad holds a title simultaneously, or Super world title, whatever the f@ck it is. Also, Evander scheduled to fight Povetkin for the WBA in december. he will be 49 then.

Yeah, and three "champions" a piece in the middle and super middleweight divisions. Two in many others.
