Guys we have Cotto Pacquiao @145 .

    Question ????

Is it that much of a big deal if the WBO strap that Cotto won from MICHAEL JENNINGS (Michael who ????) is on the line .

Ok the weight 145 is a fair weight , im big time against Roach & Pacquiao and this CW bull **** but even to me 145 seems fair .

Ok the fee the WBO are demanding from Cotto ($ 200'000), well sureley that should come from Mr i dont make enough money from my fighters Bob Arum no ?????

Ok lets say it does , then why not put the WBO strap on the line , for if anything else fear of losing a ****ing mega fight !!!!!!!!

    Thoughts ???????????????

It doesnt matter, but for Pac he wants a title in this weight class and if cotto loses it he has no leverage as champ when he goes back to fighting real WWs.

To the type of fans like us who go to a boxing forum and discuss these things then not much. Its obvious there are too many titles and insane decisions made by all the organizations. But to the boxers themselves and to the promotion of the fights then the belts do mean a lot. Plenty of casual viewers will see a fight as being for a belt and not realize there are hundreds of those belts out there. Title fights carry more weight to a casual fan.

Even when you take the more serious fan who knows about all the champs, interim champs, recess champs, super champs, etc you still got to give Pacquaio more credit if he grabs another one of those belts. In todays climate grabbing a belt isn't too big of a deal. Even getting a title in more than one division doesn't make you a great fighter. But to grab one in seven divisions, that is something special no matter how watered down titles have become.

Hey if you want the title fight the man at the title wieght. Otherwise STFU! Really this shouldn't be a big deal. And agree this shouldn't be such a huge deal. This fight is a great fight a 145 lbs and certain people are taking away from that by getting tangled up in this mess. Honestly, if Pac's team wants the title fight him at the right wieght. If not just accept the fact that you got a fantastic bout that should be huge and move on.

THoughts? ****'em if he wants the belt fight at the wieght. Honestly, we saw abunch of premadona bs right before the hatton fight got signed. 145 lb is fair. Ok. fighting at a wieght limit of 145 for a belt that's a 147 lb bout isn't. I know its happened before but I've never supported that kinda of bs.

Manny Pacquiao's dream is to follow in the footsteps of his hero, Michael Jennings, and fight for the coveted WBO welterweight title. Without our dreams, we have nothing.

Of course it is, maybe to fans it means nothing but these guys fight for championships and could care less what unknowns think of them. It's his 7th title in his 7th weight division, no one has done this ever and it's history making. In the end the title won't be considered a paper title regardless of what people say, it will count as a championship win.

Paul Williams had that title and dropped it to continue fighting in higher weights. Cotto and Jennings fought for the vacant belt.

Erm, yes, I was awake that year too. Thanks for the obscure nugget of information though.
