The WBU 'Finest' Moments:

Now that the enterprising Martin 'You Better Believe it' Rogan has brought the much missed WBU out of retirement (under it's new owners) I thought the time was right to remember some of the 'memorable' moments the original WBU brought us.

Here is a personal favourite of mine:

Dana Rosenblatt v Howard Davis Jr for the WBU Middleweight 'title'

(Yes the same Howard Davis Jr who lost to Jim Watt for the WBC LIGHTweight title 16 years earlier)

If you look in the lower left hand corner of the screen you will see at ringside a 'stout' chap wearing spectacles, this is a very rare public appearance (he was largely housebound due to his weight and attendant health issues) by WBU 'President' Jon Robinson. Enjoy the look of horror/bewilderment on his face when Davis goes down in the first

WBU Resumes Operations with Offices in USA and England!

On 13 May 2011, the WBU-World Boxing Union, Inc., now based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA proudly continues its heritage with its home office in America as well as being represented in its birthplace in England.

Don "Moose" Lewis, Chairman of the IBU-International Boxing Union, based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA has worked tirelessly for the last three (3) years to gain the rights and its storied history of the organization after its founder passed away. "I tried to purchase the WBU years ago but was unable to work through the estate's red tape in a timely manner-so I patiently waited until the estate was settled so I could resume operations here in America. We are incorporated in the State of Georgia, registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service, and comply with the Muhammed Ali Act in order to lawfully operate in the USA. I assure you that we are the original WBU and the titles will not only be filled again but faithfully defended with boxers from around the world having the opportunity to 'grab the gold'-where otherwise they are denied due to boxing politics. We recognize and embrace my predecessors as well as the history of the WBU before our management. We are thrilled to have the great championship lineage of those who came before us. We proudly add to the heritage."
