Cotto did not beat up and outclass Geale because Geale was weight drained.

Geale is simply just a quitter. He QUIT vs GGG and he QUIT vs Cotto. In order to make it big in boxing, you have to have guts. And Cotto has plenty of it.

Chavez Jr and Danny Garcia each were contracted to weigh 140 and 160 before the biggest fights of their career. Each looked like death in the scale, both eating nothing 24 hours before the weigh in. Like true warriors, they took and shook off BOMBS from the biggest punchers in their weight class to achieve victory. In Chavez's case, he fought Irish Andy Lee; while Danny fought the HARD hitting Lucas Matthyse, a fight many expected him to lose. Guts is what earned them their victory, they made no excuses about being weight drained.

Geale was contracted to make 157 pounds before the biggest fight of his career. He looked like death during the weigh in, but re hydrated up to a Cruiserweight during fight night just like Chavez Jr. He got beat up, outclassed, and quit when the going got tough.

Like stated before, you have to have GUTS to make it big in boxing.

    Cotto quit v Margarito
    Chavez quit v Fonfara

Joke comparisons anyway, Chavez was huge for the division and Garcia didn't look like death at the weigh in.

Geale clearly said he wasnt 100 percent for the fight when asked about it.

He tries hard to make 160... 157 made him weak.

Cotto looked good regardless, but it is what it is. Cracks me up when fighters force a drainage on their opponent and their fans want to act like it had absolutely no effect. 3 more lbs for someone who already has to cut hard for 160 and it didnt effect Geale? Lol.. sounds like youve never cut weight for competition before.

Newsflash... if draining didnt bring an advantage one way or another fighters wouldnt be making them part of contracts.

Did cotto outclass Geale because of it? No... did it have an effect on the fight? Of course it did.

Why did cotto want geale to fight at 157 then? If it wasn't going to have any effect on geale then why didn't cotto let him come in at 160?

Bottom line: if you think Geale was going to lose badly regardless of weight, then that makes the catchweight even more indefensible.

this is a complete joke, imagine the catchweight Cotto would demand if the WBC enforce his mandatory, 154 and no more than 5 lbs rehydration before the ringwalk I'm guessing
