I finally saw Mike Alvarado...TALENTED. It now appears that he more comfortable as a true Welterweight. Tall, Strong with decent skill..but has KO Power. He's 27-0 but he is also 29 years old. It's definitely time for him and alot of other "so-called" Welterweight prospects to "Step-it-up" and start fighting some ranked competition. Although my Favorite is Antwone "The Truth" Smith from Miami...Which one of these WW Prospects will emerge as the BEST OF THE BUNCH???

There is a nice crop pf WW "Young" talent:

    Mike Alvarado 29yrs old (27-0)
    Antwone Smith 23yrs old (18-1)
    Mike Jones 25yrs old (20-0)
    Saul Alvarez 20yrs (31-0)
    Kell Brook 23yrs old (21-0)
    Selcuk Aydin 26yrs old (19-0)
Luis Carlos Abregu 27yrs old (29-0)
    Antonin Decaire 27yrs old (23-0)
James De La Rosa 22yrs old (20-0)
    Lenard Lane 27yrs old (11-0)

If you know of more or a Young Welter with more "Upside" then any of these "young guns"'...Let us know.

    Sound off.

What about Berto? He is only 26, has already won a title, has a few decent wins and still has plenty of upside.

Bradley and Alexander are going to come up in the next few years and be the REAL rulers of this division.

I think those two may be too small to make the move up and be "the man" at 147- if I were them, I'd try to go the route of other 140 lb ATG's like Pryor, Locche, and Tszyu and focus exclusively on 140. If they move up unsuccessfully, it makes it easier for them not to get full credit for the work at 140 since too many people focus more on losses than wins. I wouldn't like the way either would match up against full sized, full powered welterweights.

Uh...Didn't Berto just beat 3 Ranked opponents in a row, 2 of them former Belt Holders? That alone takes you past "Prospect Status".

There is some good young talent there. Of the ones I've seen a couple times I like Mike Jones the most. His last outing was a little disappointing though. Lane has looked good the two times I've seen him, good mix of power and speed. Smith is a good looking fighter but I haven't warmed up to him quite as much, maybe because he's more workman like than flash. Alvarado looks solid but due to age he needs to step it up quicker than the others so who knows how that will effect him.

Abregu is a fun fighter but he's going to be a little too crude to be a top guy. Aydin is a tough guy but he seems a bit small compared to the others and that might hinder him. Actually a fight between Abregu and Aydin would be a good one. I haven't seen Alvarez yet but he's actually fought some decent competition for his age and seems to be handling them easily.

True but his speed and tenacity will take him to a welter weight title.

If he keeps mugging people like he did Nate Campbell. I mean he didnt let him breath.

I like Selcuk Aydin, probably will win a belt but will never be something special but he is fun to watch.
