name another division where the #6 guy is better than Tim Bradley.

Lets get concrete. The #6 supermiddleweight is:

Ring: Anthony Dirrell (with Steiglitz at #5!)
    Boxrec: George Groves
    Transnational: Felix Sturm

This is laughable, guys. Say uncle.

Better than a guy who lost to Manny twice and was nearly stopped by Provodnikov and looked like **** against Chaves. Bradley is good but vastly overrated in terms of P4P rankings.

Tim Bradley versus Steiglitz at a catchweight of 164, who wins?

50/50 fight. I could see Bradley out-slicking him to an 8-4 decision.

Or, how about #6 rated welterweight Bradley versus the #5 middleweight ... Sam Soliman at 160.

I love Bradley in that fight. He opens up a 3/1 favorite at the online books.

Maybe if Mayweather and Pacquiao weren't there to batter them all it'd be a real war field fighting for the top, look at the road to Klitschko, you barely have to travel much and then he beats them down and send them back, dominance isn't particularly healthy for a division.

Thurman Still a ? Looked terrible late against Guerrero

:lol:, he had a terrible head injury, and in no way did he look terrible, people act like if someone doesn't dominate like Floyd does they look terrible.

The WW division is still an incredibly strong division. I think it's mostly hipster boxing fans that want to put down the division. Whether you dislike the WW divison or not, it's simple give 10 names in any division better than
Floyd, Pac, Thurman, Bradley, Brook, Porter, Khan, Maidana, Ali, Chaves.

By the time Floyd/Pac retire, Crawford will have moved up to 147 too, and Spence will be a name to reckoned with. 154, 160 are completely **** divisions compared to WW, 168 is decent but resume wise nothing compared to WW and loses in talent too, 175 is decent too but again resume wise nothing compared, cruiser(I only watch the top guys so I can't make an accurate assement", HW is a complete and utter joke. 140 is nothing compared to WW, 135 is pretty much a joke too, 130 is weak, FW is decent with Walters/Loma/Selby but everyone else is not even close to anyone in my top 10 WWs, 122 is solid again but overall can't compete with the WWs, I only watch the top guys from below that, so again I can't make an accurate assessment.

    Boxing overall has regressed.

But let's be real, the WW division is without a doubt the best division. It's certainly better than the **** stained MW division. Have you seen the recent champs that garbage has provided?

It's so pathetic that it makes it laughable. It should be a running gag in this forum.

What happened to fashionista's welterweight thread? I just tried to post a comment and the site said it was gone. It wasn't merged with this one about the same thing. Might as well post my comment here.

It's a good division. It's just not as great at the moment as it sometimes is. It's still not one of the worst divisions. The fighters are a little overhyped, but then so are heavyweights. Usually, it is one of the most competitive divisions with the most talent because it has the biggest talent pool. There are twice as many welterweights as there are fighters in some divisions. There are 1,775 fighters at welterweight, 1,115 at heavyweight, 1,051 at cruiser, 1,074 at light heavyweight, 1,032 at super middle, 1,300 at middleweight, 1,467 at super welter. Meanwhile bantam only has 850 and fly has 702. The divisions sort of make a bell curve with Welterweight being the center and deepest.

This doesn't necessarily mean that welterweight is always the division with the most depth to it and the greatest boxers, it just sort of implies that this is usually the case. Some of these divisions you can get a title shot and be champion in six or seven fights. You can't get ranked in the top ten at welterweight without twenty or thirty fights. Other division there might be four or five big name fighters people recognize with solid careers who don't just pop into the rankings and quickly drop out. At welterweight there are eight to ten. The guys who make it into the very top at welterweight are the best of a larger group, and they have to beat more guys to establish their place in that group. So even if they aren't always elite, top ten guys at welterweight tend to be pretty good. The contenders at welterweight would likely be champions at less competitive weight classes if they had the same skills pound for pound.

    agreed with this post.

the MW division is a big joke. the fact that quillin was ranked #1 for a long ass time just shows how weak it was. now we have guys like andy lee who lost to Brian Vera :patsch, and Chavez as champs, and Lemieux whose best wins are N'dam, Guerrero and a Rosado on a 10 lose streak.

it is actually a very strong division with a lot of potential. the problem is that we are not getting the best fights that should be happening. a lot of them are being preserved for money fights instead of legacy fights when time is running and everybody is getting old unless they do PEDs. everyone just one to get instant money fight with pac and floyd when they still have very weak resumes. it's like applying for a high earning job when they have not yet the experience and diplomas to prove their worth.
