That's pretty much how I had it, if memory serves. 9-5-1, I think mine was. Been ages though, I should rewatch.

Just finished something I'd been meaning to get around to for some time, the Giardello-Rubin Carter match.

Tis fight was supposed to be some glorious injustice done to the martyred figure that Carter became, and frankly that's a bunch of ****. It was a boring fight really, with Carter coming forward looking to aggressively counterpunch with the left, and Giardello doing his usual sleight of hand thing. Basically, nothing much happened for 15 rounds. Giardello took it on my card, 10-4-1.

As far as this fight having some greater civil rights meaning, "The Man" keeping poor Carter down.........complete crap. He clearly lost the fight.

On the contrary sal i've always thought there has been an unfair movement to paint that fight as wide loss since the bull**** claims in the denzel film.Or some sort of Giardello masterclass.

A predictable backlash , but imo neither line of thinking holds up.This was a razor thin fight full of coulda gone either way rounds.Other posters like RB and Sweet-scientist seemed to concur with this as well, incidentally.

Not that i'll argue too much with youu if you did actually see it as wide for Joey though. We can all see fights quite differently. For me, this is an interesting one because of the baggage it's acquired.

Oh, I had almost all of the first ten rounds close. Some of those could have been argued for Carter, but I just didn't think he did enough to warrant winning man of them. I had Giardello up 6-3-1 after ten, which is still a winnable fight for Carter, but then saw Joey pull away in the late rounds.

Is there a such thing as a boring Tae-Shik Kim fight?

Just finished Saad Muhammad - Lous Pergaud, the one Saad title defense I'd not seen. Turns out I hadn't missed much. For a change, Saad dominates pretty much from the start, and takes out his somewhat frail southpaw challenger with a single left "huppercut" to the point of the chin. Altogether forgettable match, but glad to say I've now seen all his defenses.

Just finished McCallum-Kalambay II, and scored it 115-113 for McCallum, but had the distribution of rounds slightly different than the commentators. They British duo of Michael Watson and some guy had it more cleanly cut with McCallum taking almost the entirety of the first half, with Kalambay coming on late. I gave McCallum four of the first six, which is hardly a whitewash first half. Then I gave Kalambay the last two to make it real close.

    Excellent technical fight.

I completely agree with your card. It was a clear victory for Giardello and imo a fight that can't be reasonably argued in favor of Carter. The movie "The Hurricane" was a disgrace and should be placed under the fiction section at video stores. I think Giardello even sued the movie for the horrible misrepresentation of their fight and won.

The Brit teams were always totally biased for Mike.

Watched Dick Tiger - Roger Rouse today, and came away impressed to a fair degree with Rouse. I knew what had happened by reading the result over the years, but wasn't aware he had as good a jab as he did, and he had a nice, quick counter hook as well. I had him in front after six, which surprised me. Then Tiger turned it up a couple notches, scoring knockdowns in the 10th, 11th, and then the final knockdown in the 12th, a short right cross flush on Rouse's face. The punch causes Rouse to fall forward on his shoulder, and he gamely gets up, showing a huge smear of blood, which pours from his mouth. The referee wisely steps in.

On an odd side note, Rouse hailed from the same podunk nothing-much town in Montana where my grandfater was born. Small world.

Just watched Sanchez vs Nelson 1982 for the featherweight title.
Great fight, I'm not the best scorer of a fight but I had Nelson taking the first five rounds before Sanchez went on to win the next five.

Had Nelson up by a point going into the fifteenth round.

Going to have to watch some more of these guys. Nelson put up such an effort late in the fight, dont see that much these days.

I'd say the score you ended up with was just fine. Most here had that one very close, so you're right in the ballpark.

Nelson was so game; he reminded me of a little banty rooster in that fight, with that coif of hair he had in front, and the way he attacked........so determined to take the fight to Sanchez.

He was just pressuring and countering early on and it was giving Sanchez fits.

132-133 for Nelson headed into the 15th. He never truly managed to hurt Sanchez though I felt, whereas after Sanchez landed the left hook in the 6th (I think) he was getting hurt consistently.

He was game, swinging for the fences while clearly exhausted and rocked. Grainy youtube quality but still watchable.

At the beginning the commentators were talking of Arguello for one of these. Were they referring to Sanchez?
