Nah but I'm sure he was well up for the Lewis fight. I don't think Lennox took him lightly, he had to stave off a big punching and hungry fighter.

Yeah credit to him once he took his claim to lineage he immediately sought to unify with Lewis.

In fact one of my two favourite boxing moments was in that fight. Briggs hit Lewis with a huge punch, Lewis laughed in his face and then sat him down with one punch. Quality stuff.

Yeah, Lennox got his measure and responded as a great fighter should. Dropped his hands towards the end but Briggs showed first class heart IMO, something he'd been previously accused of lacking. Very good win for Lewis. The amount of punchers he faced dispells any rumour of a glass jaw surely?

In fact Briggs caught him in an exchange as McCall did and couldn't finish him. Only Oceans 11, gluttony and altitude saw Lennox finished again.

I don't think Lewis's chin is questionable at all to be honest mate. He's never once been beaten up. He's been caught with two big punches from 2 big punchers both of whom he was willing to step back in with and prove himself against.

McCall timed him perfectly and Rahman bounced him from the ropes to double momentum.

But he has faced many big punchers and has never been beaten up. I'd actually call his chin solid.

    My point exactly :good

Did he face the most legit' punchers of any heavyweight champ? This one will be hard to call due to everyone's personal criteria and opinion of certain fighters.

    He's gotta be up there.

Who else is in the conversation? Holyfield, Ali maybe even Louis at a slight push.

Ali would surely be the main rival? Louis and Holy are both good shouts and it's not a 'push' when you can count The Baers, Schmeling, Walcott Charles & Marciano, even Galento, Carnera, Braddock were punchers I'm probably missing loads (knackered)

This is 'faced the most punchers'. We'll figure out who beat more later ;)

Lewis has some shot, some not (this is right off the dome I'm mashed and about to hit the sack)

    -Weaver
    -Tucker
    -Bruno
    -Ruddock
    -Mercer
    -Morrison
    -Briggs
    -Vitali
    -Tua
    -Rahman (1-1)
McCall (1-1: I actually think McCall is one of the lesser hitters of the punchers he faced)

You could count Holyfield as well I guess.

    Who am I missing?

    Holy is a good shout.
Ali had (not all in the prime)
    -Cooper
    -Liston
    -Williams
    -Frazier
    -Foreman
    -Shavers

In addition to side dishes like Lyle, Lamar Clark, Archie Moore, and Patterson

Yeah you'd need to include all the above (except Clark...he stopped no no one of note did he not? Total sham record)

Quarry could dig as well, would we say not enough? Norton fall into this bracket too?

    -Cooper
    -Liston
    -Williams
    -Frazier
    -Foreman
    -Shavers

and though shot as ****, he faced moore and ingo in sparring. quarry and norton were pretty solid punchers.

in this list alone, he's got 4 of the 20 best heavyweight punchers of all time in williams, liston, foreman and shavers and the latter 3 have a strong case for top 10

Clark was.a curiosity and a cruiserweight really. But yeah probably not...

I think.that Quarry and Norton are a notch under the level of being called 'punchers'. They could dig but their power wasn't their primary or even secondary attribute. How about the Fosters: Mac and Bob.
