Luf, Monshipour vs Nakazato ? I love that fight !

 

Kalambay vs McCallum II Saw this fight differently from my original viewing. I ended up with a draw. Seemed like Kalambay found another gear in the 7th and it took a little steam out of McCallum down the stretch. Great technical fight, great fighters.

 

Hagler vs Hamsho II With Hearns at ringside, Hagler was keen to impress and he did just that by stopping Hamsho in the 3rd round. Hamsho was a dirty fighter, clearly throwing in the occasional intentional headbutts. Hagler didn't like it one bit and it seemed to get in the way of his boxing for the opening round and half, but then he started to land combinations on Hamsho. A wide right hook finished proceedings. Nice finish.

 

Kalule vs Villa. Nice fight to watch, first time I did it, Villa surprised me tbh, he looked better than I expected, very good fighter, didn´t know him before....

 

Roberto Duran vs Iran Barkley

One of the greatest fights of the 80s IMO, and that's saying an awful lot considering the amount of classics that particular decade produced. Barkley was winning the fight by the middle rounds, battering Duran with hard body shots, and whilst Duran was fighting admirably all the way through, landing hard right hand counter shots and evading the majority of Iran's jabs, he wasn't winning too many rounds. Who would have thought a 37 year old former Lightweight would then have the capacity to sweep the last four rounds, scoring a heavy knockdown in the process, to win the Middleweight Championship of the world? An incredible night. A fabulous fight. Round 7 was stupidly good.

Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier II

I put off watching this fight for the longest time. A boring affair people have said, too much holding, etc. I couldn't disagree more. If the FOTC hadn't been so ridiculously epic then I think this fight would be held in pretty high esteem too. There was no question in mind that Ali's movement, jab, and his refusal to let Frazier work inside won him the fight, but it was certainly a two-way battle until the end. Frazier landed some mighty left hooks through the 12 rounds and had Ali hurt on at least two separate occasions. The action wasn't as hot as FOTC, or as consistent, but this is better than the majority of Heavyweight fights we've seen in the last decade. The clinches were there, but they weren't drawn out. Perez broke them up swiftly.

Foster vs Kendall

Spirited but over-matched, Kendall performed fairly well in the opening couple of rounds only to get hit with one left hook in the third that completely killed him off. He didn't hit the canvas like Quarry or Tiger, but after Foster's follow-up he was in no condition to continue. Foster could hit.

 

That was awesome !!
Villasana´s heart impressed me, always had that image of him but in that fight he really impressed me.
I didn´t score it, though I think it was a clear win to Fenech....looked the skilled guy on the infight. Great fight.

 

Kalambay vs Graham I

Kalambay was slick as ****. A very difficult fighter to hit cleanly. Beautiful counter puncher. Graham was soundly outboxed, and came very close to getting knocked out in the final round. It seemed the more aggressive Graham got, the more opportunities it present for Kalambay to counter. Very composed. Impressive performance.

 

Fenech broke both his hands in that fight, from what I've read........

 

Didn´t know that.....a true warrior, his power seemed to be less than the usual actually....

 

I think I scored it for Nelson.....

 

9-3 for Fenech.

 

I believe so...I would have to check it again to be sure...
