    I was just :stir.

Personally, I liked Perez's aggression over Pone's weak punches
but the fight looks pretty close - it's not an outright robbery by any means.

    He's okay.

    For a featherfister.

Yeah, Pone can't punch for ****. But decent jab (and little else from him when he's fencing) and that very good and sneaky inside game, where the right uppercut was his bread and butter (or Pad Thai)

Really suggests a Muay Thai background but I've never really seen anything concrete on him being a convert.

In a land where fighting with the feet is more commonplace than the Marquess of Queensberry variety, Kingpetch has never fought any way except Western style. "There is no opportunity to become famous all over the world in Thai fighting," he said.

Nice post, I've seen that fight a while back now. I thought Kingpetch looked really good in it from memory.

8 drinks in...****, just when I thought "I really love Alexis Arguello" I watched another fight of his and realize "I never knew what love was...". Another tremendous war by the explosive thin man

    Arguello Olivares Notes
    10 9
Arguello looks massive in comparison and he has legs! Arguello controls distance and every shot is MASSIVE

    10 9
Olivares lands a left hook but having tons of trouble closing the distance, arguello lands a huge left hook, some of arguello’s future brilliant body showing as he throws but misses a right inside uppercut

    10 9
Arguello jabbing and walking down poor Olivares. Olivaries in full defense mode. Always looked at arguello as a right hand puncher but his left is amazing…why pull it out though against a smaller opponent with one of the best lefts in feather history??

    10 9

Olivares looked to be on full retreat at times, arguello backing him at will

    10 9

More of the same with arguello. Jab and hook both seem to be getting longer and longer. Ruben takes every hit poorly

    10 9

Arguello goes for the kill and he throws the right with abandon. Ruben offering nothing in return. Brief but ineffective rally by Olivares. Follows with some left hooks that land. Arguelllo takes em well

    10 9

Arguello starts to the body (finally!) Olivares throwing back as if to turn it into a war, arguello doesn’t bite. Ruben turns it into an inside war and may win the round…no, alexis’ hits still have WAY more beef

    10 9

Arguello jabbing from halfway across the ring but ruben slips it. Way on the inside and ruben gets a bit the better of it but any time they’re at middle range arguello drills him

    10 10

I drank a LOT during that round. Let's split the difference

    9 10

Both men jabbing. Odd to see with two of the hardest hitting fighters ever. Arguello trying to counter but too slow. Good body work by Olivares. Olivares corning arguello consistently, who takes a beating on the ropes

    10 9

Alexis uses his legs more and just enough to set up the angles, the counters and the right hands to get the job done. Backing Olivares, whose terrific rally in the 11th appears over

    9 10

God love the forum but they cheer their balls out whenever Olivares farts and it’s getting hard to judge punches. Still despite Olivares getting in, Arguello is controlling…hold on **** it. Arguello got rocked

118-110 Arguello before the stoppage. Olivares had no business doing as well as he did...well done sir.

Mayweather Gatti was meh on this view so I watched what i could find of Napoles-Backus 2. I have such a Napoloes Boner right now. My wife is quietly chuckling as I yell "**** the right throw the left...the LEFT hook." then he knocks down backus with a right to which I reply "what the **** do I know?! I'm some moron on a couch and you're a hall of famer! Right hand RIGHT HAND!!"

Salvador Sanchez vs Azumah Nelson. Great fight this one, Nelson put it all on the line and came out all guns blazing from the first bell to the last, showing no fear whatsoever of the veteran champ. He gave Sanchez some real trouble with his hand speed, combination punching and aggressiveness. Sal adapted in the middle rounds and staged a bit of a comeback, boxing off the jab and moving well, hurting and putting down Azumah with the left hook several times.

But Nelson came back into as the later rounds came, I give him the Ghanian a lead of 8-6 in rounds, going into the 15th, taking account Sanchez's knockdown in the 5th. The huge effort he put in, caught up to him in the final round though, and Sanchez finished him off with the precision of a surgeon when he had the chance.

As much of a rough diamond as Nelson was here only 13 fights into a distinguished career, you could tell the quality was there, and that he'd go on to do big things. Indeed, maybe this fight could have been a whole different story if Azumah had a dozen or so extra fights to his name? Had Sanchez lived I reckon these two greats would have met again at any rate:thumbsup

Really shows what a subjective sport boxing is fella. I had Olivares up 8-4 in rounds coming into the 15th. Our cards are pretty much the opposite of each other:lol:

Going to have to give this one a watch again:good
