    Benton-Mims musta been great.

"I was afraid of this guy Benton," said Mims' manager Nick Trotta.
"He was the most feared middleweight around."

Apparently the first fight was close but the inexperienced Benton rightfully won.

It was a pretty interesting era.

Guys like Mims, Lausse, Benton, Fernandez, Rivero, Henry Hank, Carter, etc - all were colourful/easy to cheer for fighters.

Have you read CBZ article on Benton "Too slick to fight"?

Watched a 10 rounder with Carmen Basilio vs Chuck Davey 2:

Entertaining stuff, lots of leather thrown and landed and a good showing by Davey, who's a guy ive never seen before. Seems to be a quick handed southpaw stylist with a nifty left hand and good combinations, which landed on Basilio all night. Had the very active Davey taking the majority of the first 8 or 9 rounds, hitting Basilio with everything but the kitchen in the process. Basilio was competitive and landed that big overhand right of his with regularity throughout. He got stronger as as it wore on and I had him taking the last two rounds in a row against a tiring and bleeding Davey. If it had been a 15 round championship fight, rather than a 10 rounder, who knows how the fight could have gone for Basilio.Anyways a clear win in the end for top contender Davey. Id be interested to see more him again.

All the sameiIt was a very rugged, unpolished Basilio, who was several years before his prime and would obviously improve greatly. I find it funny that the commentator referred to him as a club fighter, when we know him today as anything but:deal

I had a mind to score these exact two late one night but just couldn't follow the blur of their hands, particularly Estrada's against Gonzalez. I'm a fan of Roman; this last one though made him look a tad vulnerable, in my opinion. I haven't quite gotten around to it yet, but from what I saw, it seemed like Estrada outworked the guy.

I invite you to watch the rest of it. I had Juan trailing 4 rounds to 2 after 6, and still I arrived at a winning card for the Mexican. John shamelessly ran for the remainder of the bout.

    Now we're talking business!:happy

He's nothing special as far as skills are concerned but Vorasingh does look like a fun action fighter.

    Good short fight.

Although Vora's chin worries me a bit - was Sung-Jun "Iron Man" Kim a big puncher?

By the way, I've got 2 questions:

I've never seen Battlehawk Kazama in action.
Is he as epicly great as his name would suggest?

How many rounds would Fenech last with Ji-Won Kim?

Thomas Hearns vs Shuler , Cuevas , Roldan .
Shuler seemed 2 me like quitting immedi8ly after getting hit (and i doubt that it was a hard flush punch) , Cuevas i never thought highly of anyway as his record suggests , and Roldan's chin was not good and he went down i think every rd out of d 4 which they fought .
Roldan fought quite a smart fight but lacked de chin 2 maintain it .

edit : it was not d 1st time det i wocht Hearns vs Shuler . not sure about Cuevas either .
    Roldan was d 1st time det i wocht , i m quite certain .

Dwight Muhammad Qawi vs Leon Spinks

This is a seriously underrated fight, I'd rate it a slugfest and a good one although mostly one sided. Spinks showed tremendous heart in this fight.

Been watching some more Danny Lopez fights in between doing all the bull**** Uni assignments I have. That dude was never in a bad fight. Watched the Ayala, Malverez, Castanon and Caba fight all highly recommended.
