Eusebio Pedroza SD15 Rocky Lockridge I

    PEDROZA: 3; 7; 8; 9; 10; 12; 13; 14;
    LOCKRIDGE: 1; 2; 4; 5; 6; 11; 15

    Pedroza 8-7 Lockridge

Lockridge comes out banging and has Pedroza all over the place in the first six rounds. He gets arm weary as the bout goes on and Pedroza's extra experience and vaunted championship stamina comes through to make the fight one of two halves. Depends on whether you give Lockridge the 3rd and 7th rounds. Close fight, could go either way. I’ve scored it to Pedroza twice now.

Was this one or two Flea? I can't remember which, but I think I had Lockridge winning one of them.

I'm due for a re-watch on these. I think I may have given Lockridge the first fight and Pedroza the second. Both were close as I recall.

Rodolfo Gonzalez TKO 13 Chango Carmona

I had this 10-2 for Gonzalez in rounds at the time of the stoppage. Gonzalez was a beautiful fighter and reminds me so much of Napoles. But this fight left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. The referee blew and Gonzalez using his head as a 3rd fist. He didn't need to be doing all that butting to win this fight. He could've been reasonably DQ'd IMO.

Anybody know if Gonzalez was stablemates with Napoles at any time? The styles were so similar.

Finished the marquez v John fight.

had marquez winning 7-5 and 2 deductions meant I had it a 113-113 draw.

round 7 and one of the earlier one's I scored for marquez were very close rounds, so if I allow for them to be even rounds it's still 6-4-2 and a draw.

I genuinely don't see 6 rounds going to john here. I know about half the people score round 12 for him, but he gets twatted at the start of the round and runs for the rest of it.

I don't like saying robbery but every time I watch this fight I get the same feeling that there's no way John deserved to win it.

I'll probably never watch this again and just consider it a draw.

I thought Marquez beat John as well.Just outworked him overall.

The thing about that fight is it gives a glimpse into how much of a struggle it would be for Marquez to beat the better mobile feather and 130 technicians and stylists able to get him to lead consistently. It's a eubank-esque effort as far as box-punching on the front foot goes.

I completely agree, at times he seemed unable to set his punched properly and because John had a slight speed advantage it enable him to get off and get out quickly... Whilst certainly not as bad a performance as the cards indicate it definitely highlights a stylistic weakness of juan's.

I watched this foght recently. I kind of lost heart scoring it because I felt like the 2 low blow decutions were a little sketchy. The first was kind of on the hip and I didn't see the second deduction as low at all. I kind of felt like it was a robbery or damn close to one.
Early in the fight Marquez seemed a half beat slow countering. It kind of highlighted why he had no shot against PBF. He did better leading. Ultimately he was doing most of the work and John wasn't putting on a Locche-esque defensive performance.

    Ray Robinson-Jake LaMotta VI

    1 - 9-10 LaMotta
    2 - 10-9 Robinson
    3 - 10-9 Robinson
    4 - 10-9 Robinson
    5 - 10-9 Robinson
    6 - 9-10 LaMotta
    7 - 9-10 LaMotta
    8 - 9-10 LaMotta
    9 - 10-9 Robinson
    10 - 10-9 Robinson
    11 - 10-9 Robinson
    12 - 10-9 Robinson
    13 - Robinson TKO LaMotta

    Key Punches:

Robinson - Right to the body, Left hook/uppercut thrown before turning away out of range, Jab.
LaMotta - Jab (although limited success he was able to jab with Ray on occasions and it was an effective way of setting up the left hook), Left hook dowstairs, Leaping Left hook up top.

1st Round LaMotta takes landing three or four good left hooks upstairs which knock Robinson back a few times.

In the 3rd Robinson finds more success downstairs as he tags LaMotta with big shots rights to the body early and then unloads upstairs late in the round however LaMotta is still landing with the left hook during the exchanges and catches Ray with a nice leaping left at one point.

LaMotta with more success in the 5th as Robinson opens up a little and tees off but Robinson still takes it as he was continuously successful with the jab between exchanges where they both looked good.

The 6th is a Jake LaMotta round if ever I saw one! Excellent work early on the inside roughing up Robinson and two or three times in the round LaMotta hits lefts and rights to the body and nails Ray with the leaping left hook as he escapes, Robinson stayed with him and landed well himself but Jake managed to jab with Robinson at times and always came back with the better punches. Good Round.

The 7th round may be one of the finest examples of a fighter landing a punch at will as LaMotta does just that with the left hook upstairs and he continued showing why he is the raging bull in the 8th another good round for him although Robinson came back with big flurries in the second half the round to make it close.

9th and 10th is a sustained spell of sheer brilliance from Robinson.

All out war in the 11th as LaMotta batters Robinson against the ropes viciously trying to put him away but Robinson shows outrageous courage to not only survive but to come back and dominate the round tagging LaMotta with bombs and sending him flying around the rings and this time LaMotta shows the heart of a champ to stay on his feet. Greatest round of boxing I've ever witnesses.

The 12th and 13th are painful to watch as Robinson lands the right at will to the damaged ribs of LaMotta and tees off with full blooded shots up top until the ref stops it. LaMotta not going down is a miracle and this is a truly outstanding fight.

While pretty much all the footage I've seen of Marshall paints him as an incredible offensive fighter, all I've seen of Mills show him to be a clumsy dunce, sorry to say.

Benny ‘Kid’ Paret D12 Luis Federico Thompson I

    PARET: 2; 4; 7; 10; 12
    THOMPSON: 1; 3; 5; 6; 8; 9; 11

    PARET 5-7 THOMPSON

I could see the draw, really could. Could see Federico Thompson winning more though. Very good fight. I think the conspiracy theorists might say that Paret was more established whereas Federico was having his first fight on American TV (I think)

Benny ‘Kid Paret UD15 Luis Federico Thompson II

    PARET: 1; 3; 9; 11; 12; 13;
    THOMPSON: 2; 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 10; 14; 15

    Paret 6-9 Thompson

Could go either way though. The second round is one of the best I’ve ever seen (watched this fight once through yesterday and have re-watched first five rounds today, didn’t re-score though) and although I think Thompson lighting up Paret for most of the round, as well as landing his own sporadic punches when Paret was laying it on thick in the last minute or so, I can see why you might score that round to the champion.

As Thompson slowed down and Paret changed his approach a bit, picking his shots more before pressuring the longer frame of the Panamargie, the challenger’s more southpaw-based assault, and slowing reflexes (still good though) made him look a bit like Herol Graham. Now I know why lora’s a fan.

Anyway, a lot of fun this one. I felt they were closely matched in these two fights, and although I tried hard not to be swayed by the more stylish Thompson, I did come off with a better impression of him from the fights. What with this and starching Jordan, he was clearly a very capable welter, if not the most consistent defensively, or in terms of ring record.

Still, only stopped as a lightweight in first 20 fights or so. Once by Gatica, who, Ike Williams aside had a reputation as a tough man and a hard puncher.

Luis Manuel Rodriguez was a ****ing beast.
