Yeah he battered Valentino. Good credentials but I've never been impressed with the Italian really.

Billy was also past his (short) prime.

I thought he looked at his best against Mamby, which is saying something.

However, another quality win got Arguello, taking everything into context.

Most of Costello's fights from the early/mid 80's are good. Costello vs Ronnie Shields and Bruce Curry are two that come to mind.

    Just watched Pacquiao vs Sasakul.

Really good fight Sasakul boxed a smart fight and managed to neutralize Mannys offense for the majority of the fight clearly aware of his power.

However the thing that I noticed was the knockout punch was the exact same shot that put Hatton away, Manny holds the right hand out stretched in the face of Sasakul to measure the shot and then hammers the left hook into the neck/point of the chin and puts him out for the count. Exact same punch against Hatton 11 years later, flicks out the right follows up with the left.

Pacquiao was lucky to be twice the size of Sasakul.

My only criticism from what ive seen from Lomachenko under pro rules so far is that never seemed to get out of second gear, and he works in spurts for the most part. He is content to outclass his opponents, capitalizing on the mistakes they make with pin point counter punching, but he's never display spectacular finishing in the WSB. On the few occasions when he does open up few of his opponents can stay with him, most end up on the receiving end of a count. It could be that he's still just getting rounds and a feel for the pro game at the moment, and of course being a little bit cautious is better than being too reckless. Id just like to see him open up more when he switches over.

Besides that though, he's got all the ingredients of a complete fighter. Terrific hand speed, footwork, lateral and head movement, body punching, inside fighting, counter punching and he can utilize a good high guard without leaving himself stationary.

Cant wait to see what he's like versus world class pros.

I don't think he was lucky, he did have a size advantage but they're fighting at the same weight so I think you're being harsh putting the result of the fight down to a size advantage.

Manny's KO'd bigger guys so I think even if there wasn't a size advantage it would only have been a matter of time before Pacquiao caught him with the speend and power he has. Sasakul was an excellent boxer though he outboxed Pacquiao the whole fight basically but he got caught clean eventually and that was it over he backed onto the ropes and ate a huge left.

I don't think you understand. Sasakul was a natural flyweight. Pacquiao cut a lot of weight to make the limit and rehydrated much more, hence he was much bigger.

In an era with same day weigh in's the fight would never have happened. It is a cheap victory.

    Wilfredo Gomez W12 Juan Laporte

I had this 10-2 for Gomez. I think I've underated this win for Gomez chalking it up to one of Laporte's lackluster efforts. In reality, Gomez just outclassed and overwhelmed Laporte. Laporte tried but couldn't do anything with Gomez. He got hit with a ton of punches. This reminded me of a prime Gomez, not quite, but a great effort. Gomez had the legs and footwork in this one and he could dominate a guy with footwork.

Gilberto Roman W12 Santos Laciar I

I had this 6-5-1 for Roman. Good, close fight. Roman needed all his tools for this one. He seemed to turn the tide a bit and slowed Laciar's charge a bit in the middle rounds when he started catching Laciar with the check hook that PBF invented. Laciar is a beast but I thought Roman just edged it.

He was 19 at the time was he really that physically stronger than Sasakul who was lineal champ at the weight to call it a cheap victory?

What did Manny rehydrate to I can't find much on this fight to tell if this factor made that big of a difference but you know you're **** better than me so maybe you have a better idea about it?

Except from Villaflor-Shibata it's the biggest size disparity I've ever seen outside of heavyweight.

I actually don't know the numbers to be honest. I do Sasakul wasn't a big weight cutter, which is weird for a Thai.
