Watched 7 rounds of Mayweather vs Pacquiao, after reading so many opinions on the fight I wanted to really sit down and watch it really closely and really score it as well as I could

I had Floyd up 4-3 With Floyd having 1,2,3,5 to Manny 4,6,7

Rounds 1 and 5 were very clear unshakable rounds scored to Mayweather. Floyd dominated these rounds was hardly touched and landed his right hand.

Rounds 4 and 6 were clear unchangeable not open to debate Pacquiao rounds

Rounds 2 and 3 and 7 were not clear rounds. I don't think 2 and 3 are necessarily swing rounds as I doubt I could watch those rounds and score for Manny. But Floyd hardly landed much at all. I know the punch stat showed Floyd landing like 10 more punches in those rounds but I don't think I saw Floyd land as much as he was credited for but Manny hit air all round

Overall for 7 rounds I think this was a decent fight, not a snoozefest but not a great fight. Pacquiao did a little better in my eyes, he certainly was hit a lot less than it seemed live but offensively he was very limited. Even in 4 and 6 a lot of his big rallies resulted in lots of missed punches.

Will have to finish this at some point from round 8

I liked the look of Buster Douglas a lot. With a Mayweather type mentality he could have been one of the best.
When the bell rang he came out looking like the HW Lomachenko but seemed to withdraw after Ferguson stunned him.
A testament to Buster's power is at the end of the first round where Ferguson takes an uppercut and momentarily goes to sleep .....while still standing!

Had the bell not rang right at that point , Douglas would have had himself a first round KO win.

Also Ferguson was much better than I thought he was. A nice an tidy combo puncher with blazing hand speed. His timed counter left hook is grade A boxing technique.
But what was really good about him was his head and body attack. He found it hard getting to Buster's head so added combos to the body. Thats adaptability.
He really knackered Douglas and its what got him the win - although it was razor thin decision that could have went either way. A draw was the right outcome imo.

I could name 10 top guys of the past 10 years who are not as good as Jesse Ferguson. He was battered by Tyson and he wouldn't even make Tyson's top 5 wins of the 1980's.

    AMIR KHAN UD12 CHRIS ALGIERI

    KHAN: 1,4,6,8,11,12
    ALGIERI: 2,3,5,7,9,10

    114-114 A draw

Good s**** this, Algieri boxing very aggressively. Judge's scorecards were mostly drunken, but what else is new? No problem with a Khan win though. Lots of close rounds.

Yeah, I had it 115-113 Khan. Could see a draw or a 116-112 win for Amir.

Going in I thought this was Khan vs Malinaggi all over again

Pacquiao made Algieri look terrible in there

Didn't think Algieri could do more than peck and move and out point guys and going in I thought Khan will match his speed and without pop Chris can't win

I was stunned by Chris's non stop Provodnikov pressure forcing the ref to shove him back at every break. He fought the only way he could to win and deviated so far from his core style. I give him so much credit for fighting in a way I didn't find possible

Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Bruce Finch

Only posting cos Ray was completely dry for the majority of the fight. Not a drop of sweat could be seen on him as he possum'd with and knocked out Finch.

    A great boxer Ray.

    Deontay Wilder vs Eric Molina

All things considered this was a really sh¡tty, spotty performance by Wilder.

I thought against Stiverne he had showed some improvement in his punch variation. but last night it seems like he took Molina for granted and just thought that the right hand would be his ticket to victory. Wilder had a real hard time landing his vaunted right hand against Molina, and his jab wasn't really that great either. All in all he was very inaccurate and limited early on.

In the 3rd round Molina started to land with some regularity and rocked Wilder with a left hook. This was really worrying and kind of exposed Wilder's chin and defense which is what his doubters have been saying all along.

Wilder really made a lot of amateurish, technical mistakes such as pulling straight back, smothering his own work, and lingering on the ropes. As Al Bernstein pointed out, a taller opponent would have capitalized on these flaws. It really bothered me how often Molina would rip the body or sneak those uppercuts in.

Of course Wilder still largely dominated the fight aside from a couple rounds, he had him down maybe 3 times. I just think a guy with 33 fights should be looking more polished & impressive than this.

This is a guy that Wilder should have KO'd in a round. He really had no business going 9 rounds with Molina.

oh god that would have been a classic war, perfect stylistic match up.

    Was not impressed by Wilder

I get it Molina is a hard hitting heavyweight and even hurt Arreola in round 1 right before getting taken out so Im ok with Wilder getting caught but surviving but Molina to me won about 3 rounds and Wilder did not look good at all

His jab was slow, he was very stiff throwing the right hand which seemed telegraphed and took a while to come back. He does not have good punch variation. I know Wlad only really throws 3 punches, but he throws those 3 punches with some of the best form in all of boxing. Wilder has poor form for his offense.

One thing me and my dad noticed while watching the fight was Wilder would get Molina to the ropes or corner and then just stand there and pose, not jab or jab the body or lay in Molina to tire him out but do all this work to trap him and then not do a thing

Wilder did not impress me until the end of 4 when he dropped Molina, to that point his offense was still in first gear and he had been rocked once or twice. I had Molina win 2 and 3 so I thought Wilder looked really bad the first 4 rounds till the first knockdown.

I want to like Wilder and I want him to succeed but I don't think he beats Povetkin or Takam or Jennings or Fury or Pulev with a performance of that caliber, I actually could see Marco Huck moving up and beating Wilder if he fights like that

    Andre Ward UD12 Carl Froch

Great performance from Ward this. Quick of hand, quick of foot, quick of eye and mind he has Froch pegged from go. Fascinating to see him make use of unexpected opportunities to punch inside when it becomes apparent that referee Steve Smogger is going to let them go. And he has a talent for engineering a break and cracking his man with a left hook. Really nice.

Out-jabs and out-works Froch here. The guy looks a little shellshocked like he doesn't know what he's run into. His defence is gone and his offense is being limited by Ward's radar, speed of foot and counter-punching abilities.

Froch finds the body a bit towards the end of the second and in the third, but Ward is outfighting Froch. In the middle of the ring. Great stuff, making him lead with pressure then bashing him. Love it. He's definitely not boring. Outmuscled Froch in the fourth - better than him in every department. He landed a lefthook-rightuppercut-lefthook combo at one point, all inside.

Ward looked momentarily knackered in the fifth and maybe Froch nicked it, I gave it to him anyway. Would have scored it even maybe, if it was the 60s. But in the sixty, Ward just beasted him. Horrible to see Ward drive Froch back and then bully him a bit inside. What a great hook Ward has.

Once of the best performances of the decade.

    WARD:1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12
    FROCH: 5

I was present for that fight and it was unbelievable how badly he beat Froch

I think what surprised Froch most was the inside game, Froch probably thought he was just a slick fighter like Dirrel who he could bully around but soon found himself out muscled and out fought inside

The two cards 115-113 were terrible almost a majority draw, would have been a horrendous robbery

It was the inside game that stunned him. At one point he is looking over Ward's shoulder at McCracken and basically shrugging.

I went to both Froch fights in AC. The crowd really got behind him vs Johnson. The British fans sat in silence as their guy got played with. I remember sitting with some American fans already knowing it was decided and we began discussing the Bute fight that we all imagined was next

Only critique of Ward is that despite being left handed he throws a nice right cross, a punch I think he neglects

Just watched Greg Haugen vs. Charlie "White Lightning" Brown.

    I had Haugen winning.
