    Not really.

What you really have to place attention to is a guy--especially the heavies--coming in off a tough tough fight where they had to dig deep. And Dokes had to dig real deep to make it to the finish line in that Weaver & almost everyone thought he lost.

But watch out in their next fight. They almost always come out flat. With their B game, or worse. And after that Coetzee loss, all Dokes ever had was his B game.

I've always enjoyed watching this one...a great exhibition of Rosario's great power...this time against ol' Coconut Head, who had never been down before until El Chapo cracked his shell.

Put on Leonard vs Hearns II from my youtube watch later, good upload quality plus post fight round table discussion with the judges included. I had been meaning to watch this for a little while now given its controversy.

Truth is I only made it about 8 or 9 rounds and wont post my score because I dont really like it. It was kind of tough to watch this fight after seeing the first fight so many times the abilities are so diminished between these 2 guys. A lot older, 15 pounds heavier and slower.

Some good seesaw stuff from the third round knockdown to the big rally by Leonard in round 6 to Hearns battering Leonard in 7 or 8 only for Leonard to have a strong end to the round.

Good action but for some reason I had a hard time enjoying it knowing who they were and where they had been and how the first fight was and then seeing a less polished product

First off let me start by saying I score fights based on clean punches more than anything. All the other subjective criteria like who is in control, who is outboxing who, who is fighting their fight are not important and lend themselves to bias. Whoever is landing the cleaner punches is going to win the round. Volume is not important if its not landing clean. Other factors like if one guy is clinching, spoiling, etc...will lose him a round if its very close.

    floyd vs pac- 115-113 pac
    pac vs horn- 116-111 pac
kovalev vs ward 1- 118-112 (i score even rounds)
    ggg vs jacobs- 115-112 ggg

Just tried watching Mike Perez vs Marias Breidis

**** fight could only watch 1-4 in their entirety. Skipped to 6 after the complaining in round 5

Then literally kept clicking the time bar to fast fwd a little and each time i did that it was a clinch.

The ref sucked he took no control over the fight despite numerous warnings. i hope to never watch breidis again

Holyfield vs Dokes. Didnt score it but had it sitting in my watch later for a while. Kept reading how it was the heavyweight fight of the 80s. Holy**** what a very little discussed war. Dokes that night looked like he could be a handful for lots of top heavyweights

Lebedev vs Gassiev, I'm going to the Gassiev vs Wlodarcyzk fight in Newark tonight so I thought i'd give myself a little preview.

Scored it 114-113 7 to 5 with a knockdown to Lebedev. Really was not all that impressed by Gassiev who really just stalks and throws minimal punches. Seems to have gotten very far with cutting off the ring and taking a punch and being a hard puncher. He uses his feet a lot but doesnt throw much or move his upper body a big disparity in activity between his legs and upper body. Lebedev hardly hit the body and Gassiev wasnt very active with his hands and still he was tired in 11 and 12

I really dont understand the scores. I had it to Denis as did the UK TV guys card had it 115-112 for Lebedev. The judges had it by 4 points the other way to Gassiev. I'd love to see what rounds he was given. Lebedev early boxed him before the knockdown then boxed him well after it. Gassiev won a few in a row then Lebedev came on late

Lebedev to me won 2,3,4,6,7,11,12 and the TV guy gave Lebedev 10 which was close he also gave Lebedev the first which I did not. He did give Gassiev 3 and 4 but I disagree. I see lots of guys in the general talking up Gassiev for tonight. I havent seen Diablo since he lost to Drozd but if he hasnt lost a step I see no reason to believe he couldnt out box Gassiev especially if the punches dont bother him

Ron Lyle vs Stan Ward, 5 point must system

    Round 1: 5-4 Lyle
    Round 2: 5-4 Lyle
    Round 3: 5-4 Lyle
    Round 4: 5-4 Ward
    Round 5: 5-4 Ward
    Round 6: 5-4 Lyle
    Round 7: 5-5 Even
    Round 8: 5-4 Lyle
    Round 9: 5-4 Ward
    Round 10: 5-5 Even

    Total: 47-45 Lyle

Actual scores were 46-46, and 46-45 (twice) for Lyle for a majority decision win. Now Lyle was 35 by this time and was coming off the flu I believe. Ward did well countering off the ropes and really should have forced his heft down Lyle's throat when he turned him to the ropes. Lyle's sharper punching won it on my card, but i always remember my reaction when I first saw this fight. It didn't show the entirety of the post fight sequence on youtube, but when it was aired live back in the day I remember Lyle celebrating to the max, even bringing in his family into the ring. I recall thinking, "Oh, yeah, I just scraped home against a 10 bout veteran. I'd really be celebrating that." I was quite sarcastic in those days.

    Fighting Harada vs Alan Rudkin

I was prompted to do so, by stumbling across an article somewhere asserting that Rudkin was cheated by a home bias decision. And then I found a few more such allegations. Even his wikipedia page described it as "controversial".

Having at least seen the Harada-Jofre fight that same year, I knew enough about 1965 Harada to feel this was unlikely..

And sure enough, it seemed like a fairly routine win.

Rudkin was competitive though, and I suppose if was a Liverpudlian watching on a small TV in a smoky bar after 14 pints of beer, I might have persuaded myself that he won too.

    Fighting Harada vs Bernado Caraballo

Great fight, this one. Caraballo looked AMAZING, but somehow contrived to lose the fight.

From the start Caraballo was tagging Harada with spectacular shots, beating him to the jab, easily outmuscling Haradas "sumo clinch" routine, and moving out of trouble whenever he wanted - basically shutting down Haradas game entirely. But for much of the fight, he just refused to win a round. Time and again, he is in complete control, but persists in hunting shots until he puts himself bang in trouble. It actually got frustrating, how he refused to just box these rounds out. Nevertheless, he began to dominate in the middle rounds, and was taking over until he began to gas a bit by the 10th round. Still outboxing Harada from time to time, he began to hold more and more, being docked in the 11th and probably lucky not to be docked again. Harada then ground out the late rounds in his usual fashion.

Harada looked a level down from his previous self though - where were the looney tunes flurries, the teleporting to the inside, the cheery congratulations and fistbumps to all and sundry after every round? He just seemed a little subdued, lacking that effervescence from before.

I don't know whether Caraballo was responsible for it, or took advantage of it. He could/should have won this fight either way, but his own lack of tactical nous lost it for him.

Just now I watched Lamont Roach, Jr > Rey Perez.
I believe all three cards were 99-91 which is precisely what I had.
