Muhammad Ali vs Ken Norton III (September 28, 1976 15 Rounds for the WBA & WBC Heavyweight Title) Round 1: 10-9 Ali Round 2: 10-9 Norton Round 3: 10-9 Ali Round 4: 10-9 Norton Round 5: 10-9 Norton Round 6: 10-9 Norton Round 7: 10-9 Ali Round 8: 10-9 Norton Round 9: 10-9 Ali Round 10: 10-9 Norton Round 11: 10-9 Ali Round 12: 10-9 Norton Round 13: 10-9 Ali Round 14: 10-9 Norton Round 15: 10-9 Ali My Score: (143-142 Norton) Official Scores: (144-142, 143-142, & 143-142 Ali) Winner: By Unanimous Decision to retain the Heavyweight Championship of the World Muhammad Ali.
Watched Jake LaMotta vs Irish Bob Murphy in their first matchup. What a war! Two of the all time greatest punchers. Always surprised me that Irish Bob Murphy didn't rise to the occasion to take the light heavy crown from Joey Maxim.
Rorschach's score on the third Ali-Norton fight made me think of their second fight. I must be in the minority on this, but this is one of those fights where I just never saw the controversy. I had Ali a clear winner on this one. California scoring of one point for a round, 2 if there is a knockdown and no points for an even round. Round 1: Ali Round 2: Ali Round 3: Ali Round 4: Ali Round 5: Even Round 6: Ali Round 7: Norton Round 8: Norton Round 9: Ali Round 10: Even Round 11: Norton Round 12: Ali 7-3-2 in rounds but 7-3 on California point system for Ali.
Same here bro, I thought Ali clearly won the second fight convincingly, and the commentators were being overly bias to everything Norton did. Ali would pepper Norton with Jabs and lead rights for two minutes thirty seconds of a round, and Norton might attack and land a big body shot or partially blocked shot to the head, and they would score the round even or for Norton. I believe the commentary for that fight went a long way to swaying public opinion on the winner, or at least helped create so much doubt/controversy.

Rorschach, I scored this some time back on the Vegas 5 point must system employed at the time. Round 1: 5-4 Lyle Round 2: 5-4 Lyle Round 3: 5-4 Lyle Round 4: 5-5 Even Round 5: 5-4 Bugner Round 6: 5-4 Bugner Round 7: 5-4 Lyle Round 8: 5-5 Even Round 9: 5-4 Bugner Round 10: 5-4 Lyle Round 11: 5-4 Lyle Round 12: 5-5 Even Total: 57-54 Lyle Aside from the 3 even rounds I scored, we disagreed on nothing. That is good tight scoring. I just felt Lyle was the sharper hitter throughout although Joe had his moments. Officially, it was a split win for Ron and they utilized the novelty of posting their scores between rounds as well.
What I remember about this fight was that it was fought at breakneck speed. Indeed, the pace was terrific. You and I were off on about 2 rounds, but again, a fight moving this fast we're all going to pick up on something different. Here we go on, what I believe employed in Britain was a 10 point must system with the loser getting 9 1/2. And again, a terrific pace. Round 1: Minter Round 2: Harris Round 3: Even Round 4: Minter Round 5: Harris Round 6: Harris Round 7: Harris Round 8: Harris Ref Sid Nathan stops the bout between the 8th and 9th with Minter cut over both eyes and his mouth cut. Total at time of stoppage: 79-77 1/2 Harris or 78-75 in favor of Harris if we used our own 10 point system.
GGG vs Canelo Round 1: Canelo Round 2: Canelo Round 3: Close, Canelo Round 4: Golovkin Round 5: Golovkin Round 6: Close, Canelo Round 7: Golovkin Round 8: Golovkin Round 9: Golovkin Round 10: Close, Golovkin Round 11: Close, Golovkin Round 12: Canelo First time round I thought it was a draw, Canelo took the first few & the last 2 rounds with Golovkin eating up almost all the middle rounds. Not much changed on the 2nd viewing, mainly giving an extra close round to Golovkin due to being busier fighter. Canelo landed some of the cleaner shots, just didn't do enough in the 2nd half of the fight.
Lopez - Espadas I Rorschach, I was really following Alfonso Lopez back in the day and his career took a downward spiral after this fight. His jaw was never right again. But nevertheless here is the first Alfonso Lopez - Guty Espadas fight. 10 point must system and let me tell you, Lopez put on a clinic against a hard banger until getting caught in the 12th. The only difference in our scores is the 7th, which I scored even. Round 1: 10-9 Lopez Round 2: 10-9 Lopez Round 3: 10-9 Espadas Round 4: 10-9 Lopez Round 5: 10-9 Lopez Round 6: 10-9 Lopez Round 7: 10-10 Even Round 8: 10-9 Lopez Round 9: 10-9 Lopez Round 10: 10-9 Lopez Round 11: 10-9 Lopez Round 12: 10-7 Espadas (2 knockdowns) Round 13: TKO for Espadas with 3 more knockdowns Through 12 rounds: 116-111 Lopez It's always difficult seeing a fighter do some great work (Olivares against Arguello and Tate against Weaver) and then getting caught late. But that's boxing.
Rorschach, you also scored the second Lopez - Espadas fight and the Palomino - Green fight. Are they both out there in their entirety? I can't find Lopez-Espadas II and I recall wanting to watch Carlos and Green but I think it was missing some rounds.
